Hi!
I agree with RivaTNT, I also need to run kaiengine on a server without gui,
It would also be useful an option to fork the program to background, something like:
# kaiengine --nogui --background
The result would be starting kaiengine without gui and demonized.
please make it possible.
Thanks!

Hi, first of all: I know this is a deprecated thread but the problem mentioned is similar to mine and I don't want to start a new thread for this as the subject would be rather the same.
Well, here is my problem:
I'm running an Ubuntu server which would be perfect for a Xlink server. The only thing is, that I want to access the UI from another machine (Freestyle Dash or a Notebook just in case) which works if I'm running "kaiengine" attached to Xorg. I can access the WebUI from a notebook or connect via Freestyle.
BUT unfortunately that is not the wanted behaviour
The question is wether it is possible to run kaiengine with a -nogui option or such to fire it up it without a GUI autostart. I think that should be pretty easy to iterate (hopefully). Maybe a simple check wether kaiengine is ran via the -nogui option followed by omitting/bypassing the GUI initialisation part would do the job.
I'm NOT asking for a complete rewrite
The initial configuration would be done via Xorg/GTK but afterwards kaiengine could be conviniently run as a service via CLI only with the aforementioned -nogui option.
Thanks to the Xlink team for the AWESOME work on this piece of software!
Cheers,
RivaTNT

Support for running kai on all routers has been discontinued. You'll need to use a PC to run kai.
Second, the new engine requires a GUI to run, as well as the libwxgtk-2.8 libraries.
