Posted: Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:36 pm Post subject: Xlink Kai Engine refusing to start
I've been an active user here before for the MH2 community but I left a while ago. Unfortunately I can't remember my old kai tag so I've resorted to making a new one.
Anyway on to the problem, I'm running Windows 7 - 64 bit and everything went hunkydory, I've configured my drivers using my Planex dongle and it's all installed well. However the problem I'm having seems to be lying within Kai.
I cannot open the engine! I can start the interface but not the configuration or engine, I've tried 7.3.xxx as well, I can open the configuration with that but the same problem persists that the engine won't start. On both versions the splash to indicate the engine has started with flicker for much less than a second then just vanish, I don't know what's causing it to fail. I've tried turning off my anti virus and my firewall but to no avail.
I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 Router, do I need to do some specific port forwarding? Please any help would be appreciated!
EDIT : I've done the port forwarding, I've disabled UAC, I've reinstalled and used CC cleaner. I've run in compatibility mode and run as administrator, I'm not sure what else to try.
EDIT 2 : Went back to trying to get the 7.3.xxx to work, get a run time error whenever I try start the engine now, which leads back to the forum saying run CC cleaner and upgrade too 7.4, of which the problem still persists.
EDIT 3 : Still trying things, been almost 12 hours now... I will get this to work...
going to try running XP in virtual mode (
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
) as compatibility mode didn't seem to work. Will update on my progress tomorrow.
EDIT 4 : Can load xlink kai with Virtual PC... Just can't load the dongle now :/. I quit lol
