I've followed this guide here step by step, (http://teamxlink.co.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=evo7:white_wifi_max)
but when I installed the drivers to the WiFi Max, Windows hits me with a 'Device cannot start' error. How can this be overcome?

Running Windows Vista 32x, btw.

You have installed the wrong driver. Go to--> http://www.ralinktech.com/en/04_support/support.php?sn=500 download the "RT2870" chipset driver and "install the driver "only" in Windows XP Compatibility Mode" thats all. How to enable compatibility mode here--> http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/

I've installed the drivers you put up as administer in Windows XP compatibility, but which set of drivers do I install? I cannot find the 'RT73 USB Wireless LAN Card' driver.

You dont need the RT73 card driver just install the RT2870 driver in win xp mode thats it, after the installation check the device manager it should say under network cards "802.11n USb Wireless card". Now your adapter should work.

What is model number of your white wifimax?
You can investigate correct driver if model number is known.

I actually have white wifimax whose model number is WL-685R. Ralink RT2571W is embedded in my own wifimax.
In the case of Windows XP, Vista and Seven, I have installed RT257x driver downloaded from the Ralink website. It works fine.

I dont know the model number what i did was checking the chipset of the adapter with "unknown device identifier" it said rt2870, so i assumed that your adapter would have the same chipset or at least a ralink chipset. Anyways you managed to make it run thats all that matters have fun playing.

Apparently the particular WiFi Max I have uses the ZyDAS drivers.
I've got this problem solved. Thanks a bunch, guys.

Thank you for your report. Congratulations on solving your problem.

Is model number of your wifimax probably WL-685Z?
If yes, ZyDAS ZD1211 is embedded in your white wifimax.
In the case of WL-685Z on Windows Vista, you should have referred to the following guide.

- Wifi max and Wifi link: the oldest but still reliant
-- Black colored.
--- Vista
