Portforwarding consists in opening a particular entry of a router for the needs of an application. It is like a dam whose we open doors to let marine flows get through it. To make an analogy of our case, the dam is called 30000(which is the port to open) and the marine flow is Xlinkkai (the application).

Three kinds of portforwarding exist:

*dam's doors are open(=30000 port is open) where the router let pass every single connections related to Kai; Kai will not close by itself(“Please check portforwarding”) and your game's speed will be at its best. That is the best way to go if you want to play without any trouble.

*dam's doors are half closed(=30000 port is not open but you are still able to connect to Kai): your router is tolerant enough to let Kai act even if you could meet random disconnections, important lag or have an “establishing link” with your mates who already portforwarded.

*dam's door are closed(=30000 port is not open) and Kai is closing all the time with an error message(“Please check portforwarding”) when it does not even want to load(stuck at “Looking for Kai's engine”): your router does not like Kai, you do not have any other solutions but to open the port.


Portforwarding is no more a headache: if you meet the correct requirements, you may be able to make that process easier by applying the second method below.

Please do not apply both methods at the same time. If you do so, your portforwarding will be completely screwed up.


First method: Portforwarding using 30000's port.

This method works on EVERY router and Kai's version.

IP static

You have to go through your Internet device's (the one which makes you connected to the Web; it could be an ethernet cable, a wifi card or an usb cable) properties for this step. Psp adapters are not concerned by Portforwarding. Do not set a Static Ip into their properties.

You must set a static IP to forward a port : if your IP is not static and changes every time you boot your computer or router, your forward will stop working.

Find your router's model number and follow the instructions( note that some guides tell you to portforward using both protocols while only UDP is required).

Once you have completed all that you can use this application to test your forward.

Settings for Kai's configuration.

You must add port 30000 to the Kai Port in the Kai Config as pictured below . Deep Port remains as 0 .

Run Kai.


Second method: Portforwarding using Upnp.

This method only works using 7,4 Kai version and a router which has an Upnp feature.

It appears many routers has an Upnp option in their configuration which makes portforwarding an automatical process. Get to your router's configuration and see if it has an Upnp's option square. If so, check it. You might have to reboot your router to save those new settings.

Get to your Kai's configuration and set the Kai port to 0.

Run Kai.


You have to enable Ip routing on your computer as a final touch.

Follow this last guide(even if it is shown for Windows 2000 and Xp, it will still work with others).

To test your portforwarding, get into an arena where people are(meaning you can see their ping fluctuating) and check your metrics(web interface) or diagnostics mode(standard interface).

If it says “Network reachable: yes”, then you are portforwarded properly.

If it does not, you missed something and should apply the guide once again from its very beginning.
