__**This guide can only be applied for Vista //32 bits//.**__ Your Wifi Max should look like this: {{:sans_titre.jpg|}} Or Wifi Link, like this: {{:osuhs.jpg|}} **Preparation.** Step 1. DO NOT PLUG IN THE WIFI MAX!!!!!! Step 2. That CD you got with your wifi max throw it out the window right now GO!!!! (Neither adapter will work with Kai if you use the drivers that come from the CD). Step 3. Disable UAC I recommend you leave this off as it is hella annoying http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm Step 4. Download the ZyDAS Utility for Vista http://www.mediafire.com/?tf720ph7at11c7y **Installation.** If a security warning comes up just hit run. Step 5. Now the setup window opens. {{:21m2ij.jpg|}} Step 6. Click Next {{:gx21memr.jpg|}} Step 7. Click Next Again Step 8. After the install finishes click the finish button. {{:gx21mgd0.jpg|}} Step 9. A Windows Security Message may pop up saying it can't verify the driver software. Click Install this driver software anyway. {{:pq1qgqor.jpg|}} Step 10. Now plug in the Wifi Max Here you should see a pop up balloon that says Installing Devices and it should say (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g USB Adapter. **If this failed to appear or you didn't see it follow Steps 11-13.** Under network adapters you should see (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g USB Adapter. If you do not see this then proceed to Step 14. **If Step 10 goes according as follows then skip to Step 43.** Now if this doesnt happen, you will have to install the driver manually These Instructions are as follows. Step 11. Click the Start button, Then right click on computer and goto properties. {{:21ossr-cda1b588a17a2dbf0b414c41a1024e33.jpg|}} Step 12. On the left side of the window under Tasks click Device Manager. {{:21pyes-cda1b588a17a2dbf0b414c41a1024e33.jpg|}} Step 13. Now on the list you will see + Network Adapters. {{:21qehs-cda1b588a17a2dbf0b414c41a1024e33.jpg|}} Step 14. Now this may differ on your computer then what the image shows. If you see a device labeled USB2.0 WLAN with a yellow ! icon, or you see Atheros AR5007UG Wireless Network Adapter or anything else other then (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g USB Adapter, then you need to right click that adapter make sure it's the correct adapter. If you are unsure, unplug your Wifi Max and watch which one disappears from the list. Then plug it back in. Step 15. Now click on the tab that says Driver. {{:21ur60.jpg|}} Step 18. Now click on the Update Driver Button Step 19. The Update Driver Window will come up. {{:21uxws.jpg|}} Step 20. Click the Browse My Computer For The Driver Software button. Step 21. The browse for driver software on your computer window will come up. {{:1qkbm0.jpg|}} Step 22. Click let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Step 23. Now you will see a Select Network Adapter window. {{:21wtks.jpg|}} Step 24. Click the Have Disk button. The install from disk window will appear. {{:21xrfs.jpg|}} Step 25. Click the browse button Step 26. Now you should see this window. (Note- Your Look In or folders may differ from the image below this is ok.) {{:21y250.jpg|}} Step 27. In the file name text box at the bottom. Type c:\program files And then hit enter. {{:21ytwa.jpg|}} Step 28. Now the Look In box at the top of the window should say Program Files. {{:21yst0.jpg|}} Step 29. Scroll down to the bottom of the list until you see a folder labeled ZyDAS Technology Corporation. {{:1qlzf0.jpg|}} Step 30. Double click the folder ZyDAS Technology Corporation. And now you will see another folder that says ZyDAS_802.11g_Utility. {{:21a3ii.jpg|}} Step 31. Double click the folder ZyDAS_802.11g_Utility. Now you should see another folder labeled InsDrvTemp_USB {{:21axe0.jpg|}} Step 32. Double click the folder InsDrvTemp_USB. Now you should see 2 files and your window should look something like this. {{:21arb9.jpg|}} Step 33. Now click the file that says ZD1211BU.INF and click Open. Step 34. Now you will be back at this screen. {{:1ogspi.jpg|}} Step 35. Click Ok. Step 36. And now you should see this. {{:gx21bz4j.jpg|}} Step 37. Click on the (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g USB Adapter in the box. (Ignore the message about it not being digitally signed.) {{:av1ohvja.jpg|}} Step 38. Click Next The driver will start installing. If this window appears. Click Install This Driver software anyway. {{:av1ohrls.jpg|}} Step 39. After that is finished you should see that Windows has successfully updated your driver software. {{:gx21cxnj.jpg|}} Step 40. Now click Close. Step 41. Now you should see this in your Device manager for Wifi Max. All your looking for is (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g USB Adapter. Ignore everything else that's in device manager. {{:1qnrxi-09c08d766edce5c58dbda6510dda1d53.jpg|}} Step 42. Now Close Device Manager. Step 43. Now click Start goto All Programs Scroll down till you see ZyDAS IEEE 802.11 b+g Wireless LAN. Click that folder then click on ZDWLan Utility. {{:21eai9-09c08d766edce5c58dbda6510dda1d53.jpg|}} Step 44. You should see the ZD icon appear down in the task bar in the bottom right hand corner of your screen by the clock. (If you don't see this icon expand the task bar by clicking the <.) (If you still don't see it then you did something wrong and should go back to step 1 and start from the top cause your driver is not installed correctly. This also applies to if the ZD icon appears and disappears quickly.) {{:gx21f54r.jpg|}} Step 45. Now that icon you see down in your task bar that says ZD. Double Click it. This window will appear. {{:gx21fvsr.jpg|}} Step 46. At the top right hand corner of that window where it says Mode. Make sure it is set on Station. Step 47. Click the more settings button. Put a check in the PSP XLINK MODE box. THIS MUST BE CHECKED. Your window should look like the image below. {{:av1olfda.jpg|}} Step 50. Close that window. Step 51. Now where it says General Connection settings there is a button that says change. Click it. Channel: 1 Uncheck the Any box Make sure the SSID box is blank. Network Type: Ad Hoc Authentication: Auto Encryption: Disabled Your screen should look like this {{:21j7v0-09c08d766edce5c58dbda6510dda1d53.jpg|}} Step 53. Click the Apply button and all the settings will go back to grayed out mode. Now close that window Step 54. Now get your PSP and turn it on. Put the WiFi switch on the psp in the up position to turn it on. Then once your at your PSP menu navigate to the network settings options. Menu 1 at the bottom. Now choose Ad Hoc. Then Choose Channel 1 Then Hit X to save the settings. Step 55. Now load up the game you want to play. (For this tutorial I will be using Monster Hunter Portable 2G) Step 56. Now once the game is loaded goto online guild hall. Your ZDWLan Utility should see your PSP and look something like this. {{:gx21kdhr.jpg|}} Step 57. You should see your PSP under the Available Networks Now double click on the PSP thats under the Available networks. And it should look similar to this. (NOTE* Your SSID will differ from what game you are playing. But as long as it is connected and you doubled clicked on the PSP you should be fine.) {{:gx21lqai.jpg|}} Step 58. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF XLINK KAI 7.4. Download the latest version from Also Login to Kai first before following the next steps to configure it. http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/downloads.php Step 59. Now if you have XLink Kai running close it and close the engine as well. Then Click Start, All Programs, XLink Kai, Configure Kai. {{:21mzvr-09c08d766edce5c58dbda6510dda1d53.jpg|}} Step 60. Click the drop down box and change it to (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g USB Adapter Then down at the bottom check the box that says Follow PSP SSID Your screen should look like this. {{:21oyda-09c08d766edce5c58dbda6510dda1d53.jpg|}} Step 62. Now after your settings are like the image in Step 61, Click the save button at the bottom of the config window. And Kai will restart and you will be able to login. Step 63. Now after you login at the top of the screen you will see a button that says Game Arenas. Click it. {{:21pz0j-09c08d766edce5c58dbda6510dda1d53.jpg|}} Step 64. Now if you get a connection lost screen and a pop up balloon says You are Unreachable check Port forwarding then follow this guide before going any further: [[Port Forwarding]] Step 65. Now the only things that need to be assessed here are. Network Reachable Has to say YES. If it does not by the time your reading this your Kai will close and you will need to refer to Step 64. The next thing to look at is Ethernet Adapter It has to say (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g USB Adapter. Then scroll down a bit to the bottom and you should see under found consoles your PSP and its MAC address. If you just see the MAC address and no picture you should be fine to play. Step 67. Now Navigate to the arena of the game you want to play. And join a private arena. Join the guild hall and you should see players on your PSP. If you do not then exit the guild hall then reenter the guild hall and refresh the ZDWLan Utility and then double click on your PSP again then you should see them on your psp. Step 68. VOILA THE END now you can enjoy playing your PSP on XLink Kai. Have Fun!!!!
