The official PSP website is stating that Ridge Racer is Wi-Fi compatible in both Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure mode.

This is a mistake. The US version of the game only supports Ad-Hoc multiplayer.

All of the menus in Lumines are in English, so it's not a problem to play at all. Plus, it's a pretty great puzzle game.

Not built-in, no. Talkman is going to be some sort of multilanguage translator software, and it'll come with a mic. So the potential for an add-on is there.

Just to reverify, I also managed to get connected using a DWL-122. But for some reason I was only able to get connected to another player once.

The multiplayer PSP games use ad-hoc mode, not infrastructure, so having one method work doesn't automatically guarantee success with the other.
