HALO 2 profile name special characters

hi everyone.

i was playing halo 2 on xlink Kai and i saw peoples profile names with like, wierd backgrounds behind their name before joining the game, or pictures of guns in there name. Like, i saw this one called "The Pope" and at the end a picture of a sniper. And on some I see little color picture avatar things. Is that a hack? how can I do that?

Not sure if you need to be modded or not, but I can tell you it's done by hex editing I believe.

i mean the actual name of the persons profile on HALO 2. not the name of the xbox. I just want to make a picture of a gun show up on my name in playing Halo2 on xlink. somebody who knows what im talking about please help Shocked

do i really need to hex edit and patch my default.xbe to not check for savegame authenticity and all that shit? its all not worth it.. if you did it can u please give a breif explaination?

You can re-sign the edited save if you don't want to hack the default.xbe . dig around on x-s more, should say where.

but do you know how to patch the xbe so I can hex my own name and save it with some of the characters on the others?

go to halomods.com and search for Sav3r in the Halo 2 Downloads section of the files forum, you should find a post by me...all the info you need is there

All you gotta do is upload your Halo 2 profile from your Xbox to your PC and hex edit your name. Search for Sav3r or Halo 2 Wingdings to do this. I came across a tutorial some place, if you dont find out anymore information, post back and I'll try to find it for you.

i finally found out how. its quite easy.

download sav3r and open your profile, and it
will automatically sign your save file to be accepted
by the halo 2 executable. it even shows pictures
of every symbol that can be inserted. great program,
i envy the creator. must have taken alot of work.

i know how to do it you need a program called sav3r you can get it off xbins or do a google search for Sav3r

its nice to see that your trying to help out the community with your knowledge. Its a good thing, but for further reference check the dates on the last post ( in this case 4 months ago) and they guy already figured out how to do it.

and if you read this in the wrong way i might be sounding like a smart ass, but just saving you from beeing flamed in the future.
