Hello all. Sorry to bother with the question that's being asked most in this forum, but the current info isn't helping me.
I followed the tutorial to setting up Xlink to work on XBMC, but it just does NOT want to work.
I am using a softmodded Xbox w/ 76GB HDD and XBMC-2005-11-04-PIMPED. I went to Settings>My Programs>Xlink Kai and enabled the notifications, inserted my XTag and password, and input the IP address of my PC that runs the engine (192.168.1.109).
I am connected to a Linksys Hub/Switch which is connected to the Linksys WR--- Wireless Router that seems to be the suggested one (It isn't mine, so I'm not going to flash it's bios to contain the engine).
Once again, my problem is that everytime I have the Xlink engine running on the PC and try to continue with XBMC, i get the error:
"The service is not connected, would you like to attempt reconnecting it with Xbox Media Center?"
I followed the tutorial multiple times and followed the unofficial manual's guidelines, but have yet to come up with anything concrete. In the Xlink UI, it shows me as connectable. I have also searched these forums for the answer, but every time it seems I have one, the person responding doesn't leave enough information. To combat that, I'll post the log off of XBMC:

Can someone PLEASE tell me what i'm doing wrong? I'm wracking my brain trying to fix my problem, and i'd be VERY appreciative for any help I could get.
P.S. I hope I've left enough information for you to help. Whatever else you need, don't hesitate to ask. |

F I R E W A L L. Or you have not setup the network settings in XBMC correctly. Make sure the RSS feed is scrollling on the home screen of xbmc this is one way to tell if your xbox is getting access to net. Turn off any firewalls you have running.
Open Kai Config tool and have it accept IP connections from ANY. Close Engine after set to NEVER. |

Only software firewall is Windows XP - turned it off until i could figure this out. The RSS feed scrolls on the bottom of the screen, and it was already on "Any IP Address". Here are my settings from KaiConfig:
Engine only (for dashboards)
Kai Port: 30000 (this is also port forwarded in my router config)
Network Adapter: Realtek RTL8139 (my PC's NIC)
Xtag and Pass input and set to Auto Login
Close Engine After: Never
Accept UI Connections From: Any IP Address
Launch UI and Launch Engine are both checked (so I can see if everything is connecting. |

Common thing people think is that they need Internet access on their XBMC. YOU DON'T! Kai will connect through the local network. It's an added bonus if XBMC *is* connected to the Internet (and for most people, when you connect it to your home network, Internet access comes with it).
But anyhow, you seem to have gotten everything correct except I would suggest that you check on yoru PC that the Kai engine is successfully connected to an Orbital Server before getting XBMC to do anything.
How are you connected to the router (on the PC side?). If the PC is direct to the router and the XBOX behind the Linksys hub, I would just try removing the hub in the equation and go direct to the router if you can. It should work since I am in the same boat, my XBox lies behind a Linksys BEFSR41W which connects to a Linksys WRT54G.
I'm connected with wires everywhere though, no wireless. |

So you and him are the same person?
Same problem, *POTENTIALLY* DIFFERENT reason.
ie. "My PC doesn't turn on".
- Could be broken.
- No power in the house.
- Not plugged in.
- Cable damaged.
See? |
