Hi hicaow,
Thanks for your response. I have the games on my harddrive, removed dashupdate.xbe and update.xbe (I hadn't seen your post till now) from all games (thanks for the tip, about saving space - didn't know it was ok to remove). What about downloader.xbe?
Same issue - it now does show the "Update Complete. Starting XBox Live" but simply reboots in my XBMC dash.
The dashboard name was changed to avalaunch.xbe in my BIOS, but nowadays I start from XBMC (I have renamed the org avalaunch.xbe to ava_org.xbe and replaced it with the RENAME_ME.xbe from XBMC).
Regards,
Nika. |

Same thing when I use the original avalaunch.xbe and start XBMC manually.
Btw. I have an EvolutionX M7 Bios (hardware, no softMod). |

LOL - thanks for the quick responses.
I have xboxdash.xbe available - when I turn of my BIOS I can boot into the org xbox without a problem...
Should I remove it then (after backup )? |

No, unfortunately I never solved the problem.
I lent my copy of top spin to a friend who seems to have borrowed it permanently. I'll have to hunt him down, although he's away at another college.
Nikagl: Do you have an Xbox Live account?
If you do, maybe that's why its trying to connect to the Live servers. Hopefully, its blocked so you don't get your xbox kicked off.
If you do, and don't intend on playing on Live anymore (thanks to the beauty of Xlink maybe you could try deleting the Live account information. It should be in the MSDash. Pretty sure you can reopen the live account later, if you want (but don't take my word for it, I've never been on Xbox Live).
I can launch games directly from the "my programs" list, i just have to back out of Xlink. It seems to execute the games actual .xbe file, rather than a subfile that checks for updates, connects to live, etc. For some reason, when Xlink is launching the game, it doesn't use the "default.xbe" file, perhaps executing the default .xbe as it would on an Xbox DVD, identifying the .xbe file through the titleID? This is all guesswork. but maybe someone smarter than me can figure it out.
There may be some patches for an xbe file to skip out on the update check thing, but i don't know. Hope this helps... Sorry for not keeping up on my posts.

Thanks for the effort on responding - I don't have xbox live, and nope... still the same issue despite it all. Think it might have something to do with the mod I'm using... |

OK, well it looks like the 02-26-06 version of XBMC solves all of the problems I was having. There are no attempt to load up anything but the default.xbe file from the game directories. No blue/green screens asking for updates or siging into Xbox live. Also, Top Spin loads properly, without rebooting.
When doing an install follow the guidelines posted at the XBMC website.
ie delete the TDATA and UDATA folders for XBMC as well as the XBMC folder itself. |

Btw - for the upgrade I replaced all old files, except my xbmc configuration xml file. This worked fine - no deleting of TDATA, etc.

Nika. |
