Why do you think so many people play Halo 2 online?

well I was playing it back when it frist came out and it was alot of fun but now I am very bored with it soz looking to play something different

Because after you play single player a few times, try your hand at legendary, Halo 2 simply sucks. Its one of the greatest games but the single player can only be played so many times over.

I have to agree with HIHI UT pwns Halo 1 and 2 ne day of the week :p

I say Halo 2 is just a complete borefest....maybe if the gameplay was sped up ALOT and I mean ALOT it wouldn't be so boring

I think people play it becuase of three reasons.

1. its noob friendly, slow pace and get a sniper go hide and rack up the medals.
2. the hype
3. the slick ass match up system and clan options.

i wish every game had a match up system like that so easy to use no shopping around for a decent game lobby. i play it on both kai and live and i have to say its all good on kai but the whole match up level thing gets quite addicting when you know you only need one more win............

Halo2 is the busiest room, but not the best quality. I much prefer to play Timesplitters 3 as it's so much faster. TBH the rooms are not used as the should be and people don't change their status to show they are hosting so how do we know there is a game going on?

If you are testing then Halo2 is the best room to test with. I have sat in many rooms for endless times just waiting and hoping someone will join but all I find myself doing is playing with myself (don't even go there). I get bored so jump on Halo2 as at least I can play something.

It is probably best to get a few contacts so you can message them and play something different with each other. Also I don't see how you can advertise that you have a room playing ------ when you have to come out to message and it's gone.

Not that its popular, what makes it popular is the MP, isnt like GR2 where pretty much if they see your first your dead, here you can get shot be almost dead but pull something out of your hat and kill the guy, and the diverse set of weapons and levels.

This MP is probaly the best MP Ive ever played besides 007:The Worlds Not Enough (Game was so pimp in MP-AI and everything).

I think everybody is at least partly right (how's that for being non-committal? Wink

). For the group I play with, it is one of the few games we have in common, which speaks to an earlier comment about how everybody has it. Even those who are not "fans" seem to have the game in their library. I have an extensive library, but there is also a dearth of "quality" games with system link.

On top of that, there are some games that have buggy system link (i.e., NFL Fever and Links), so even if you want a total change of pace, you often have no choice but to play H2.

(off topic, slightly) The thing that really mystifies me is why someone would want to hack their game code so they have abilities in the game that others do not. This is most prevalent in H2, but I have seen hacks in other games online. Regardless of the game you play, I think all of us take satisfaction in seeing ourselves become more proficient at that particular game. These wankers must *really* suck to find joy in being essentially unbeatable. (end off topic, slightly)

I really wish that Criterion had developed Burnout into a System Link game. That series is crying out for online playing goodness. I personally am not really into GR or R6, but I see the appeal. I rarely see anyone playing Serious Sam or SS2, Project Snowblind, TimeSplitters (though at least one commenter here plays it), Conker, Crimson Skies, MechAssault - the list goes on and on. I think this all goes back to what everyone has in their respective library.

Like it or not, Halo CE & 2 are the lowest common denominator, and, as others have said before, it does allow for balance if you configure the games correctly (MLG ruleset [go to http://www.mlgpro.com/news/2006_MLG_Season_Official_Announcement/1.html and scroll to "2006 Season Format"], for example) so the "race for the power weapon" is not the focus nor the key to winning.

i think they put subliminal messages in the game so we are all addicted because it does have a strange hold over ppl and when ppl start playing they become obsessed.

It depends if ur playing ppl how are really poor at it it gets boring after a bit and if ur playing cheaters its just not fun at all personally i prefer rainbow 6 3 blackarrow but there are not as much users in that

its been out for 2 years and its boring as hell.

I personally would rather whipe my butt with it than play it lol. Only time i come on is when it raining or its real late at night and my home town friends pull me on it.

EDIT: and anyone know where you can still play that lemmings game? I loved that game so much in like 8th grade.
