is there a way you can improve the support for avatars? i can never put in my avatars without losing lots of quality. the quality looks nice if its a .gif image, but the picture never shows up on kai.. |

Do you mean animated .gifs? That'd be kinda neat.
If its just image quality you are concerned with pngs seem to work ok without any substantial loss in quality, (my current avatar is a png).
Although you will always get some loss of quality if you are reducing a large image to the 50x50 size. |

Well Xlink doesn't support animated gifs for the Kai avatar so if you trying to do that then that is why it's not loading. As for loss of quality if your making your own then you might try what I do. I start of with a 200x200 pixel layout, do the avatar and then shrink it down to a 50x50 which usually ends up a fairly nice avatar. Then I save it as a jpg and works for me everytime and looks good too.
Also keep in mind that the file size of the avatar can't be over I think its 25kb either or it wont work either.
If you use to big of a layout, then when you go to shrink it, it will look blurry because its compressing more pixels into a smaller area and probably would be way to big anyways file size wise.
I found that doing one no larger then a 200x200 pixel starting layout works great. |
