I am trying to get my brother in law up on KAI and having problems getting his network up.

I have his port forwarding done correctly as shown on portforwarding.com here http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DI-624/Xlink_Kai.htm

I am not new to networking or getting KAI setup because I have done it many times even with my 2 different model Netgear routers here.

His network is reachable but all he keeps getting in connecting with rooms is "establishing link"and stays there and sometimes he can connect to one and see his ping. Even if he sees his ping when he tries to get in the room on his xbox it never comes up.

He is running WXP without SP2 and firewall. No other software firewall either. He is running DHCP and his hardwired PC is always IP 192.168.0.101 which is the IP given in the port forwarding of 30000 for both TCP\UDP. His Xbox is also hardwired to the router.

I have been hitting my brain against the wall trying to figure this out. He can't connect to my private room or others. Most of the time he just gets stuck on "establishing link".

We did realize when I had a private room up with just he and I and I shut down Zone Alarm he says he then can see his ping on his screen when it was already hanging at "establishing link". His status however remained at "establishing link" on my PC. I am thinking the ZA just needed to get moved to medium so that wouldn't happen on his end but still doesn't explain why his router is still blocking data.

Any help would be appreciated. Maybe it's his NIC?

try just UDP on the forward .. you added 30000 to the kai config ? .. try setting the router into DMZ as a test .. also try PAT on or off in the Kai Config ..

Hicaow,

Finally got around to my Bro In Law to troubleshoot tonight.

Checking off PAT in Kai Config did the trick! Have no idea what that is though. As long as it worked.

Thanks man!
