How exactly does hosting work?

For halo, I have it set up to where I'm hosting a game on my xbox. How do you set up it on the software? I did the pop up box where is says how many people you have and that I'm planning on hosting. No one has joined for a while yet.

Are you in the XBOX/Halo/NTSC(or PAL) arena? That's gonna be necessary as well. If you are - type something in the room like 'can anyone see my game?'

People are willing to check in most cases.

Yeah, you need to make sure that you are in the right room.
