I live in rural Texas and have no way of getting online with Xbox Live.
Would it be possible for Xlink Kai to "simulate" Xbox Live for a LAN without getting online at all? In essence the pc would BE the internet. If not Xlink Kai then any other suggestions?

If you're on a LAN you can play any system link game without the need for a PC. Just plug the Xboxes into a hub or switch and away you go..... |

Ah, I wasn't being clear, we would like to link games, such as Chrome Hounds that ONLY allow sytem link through Xbox Live.
We've already tried linking through a hub with no luck. No problems with Halo or Gears of War (after removing the new maps!) but those games ALLOW direct sytem links through a LAN.
Does that make better sense?

you cannot emulate Live .. the system link option in xbox(360) games is made to play on a LAN .. Live is made to play on Live (the internet) .. |
So the answer is "no" Xlink Kia can not be used to simulate Xbox Live without getting online. Correct?
I do understand the difference between a LAN and Xbox Live, however
perhaps someone can explain WHY any game would ONLY work while connected to the internet for multiplayer as opposed to a LAN? Please get as technical as needed, anything I don't undertsand I'll google.

no .. xlink kai can never simulate Live .. Kai is NOT Live ..
System Link is in games to be played on a LAN (LOCAL area network) , xlink 'tricks' the game into thinking people all over the world are on your local network ..
Live is microsoft servers , nothing to do with kai ..
theirs nothing technical about it.. |

oOOOH!!! dingdingding, I think I've got it!
So Xlink Kai simulates a LAN over a WAN. Cool!
Doesn't help my problem, but once I've got broadband I'll have to give it a go. Sorry for being so dense and thanks for the info.
