... PS, hey fennec, wanna play some this weekend at all? I'm too lazy to pm, so I'm just posting it here. |
Hey, for some reason I can't post PM's anymore - they are getting stuck in the OUT box Have to ask for assistance from mods on that... On the subject, however - how about this Sunday, say 4:30 EST (3:30 CST), or bit later? Wanna PM "jkjk" as well? May be he can join in... |

umm, I can try bulleting it, although I think it would be much more helpful to read the entire thing.
-Distance is most important thing for pings. Closer you are, lower the ping.
-There isn't really an 'average' ping, but usually the above applies.
-Higher upload speeds are good.
-Same Internet provider is good (I think)
-From Minnesota, usual pings to California are 60-100. From around New York area, 40-60. From lower east coast 60-80. From Texas, 60-100. Furthest away I've connected is brazil, with a ping of about 150. Game barely playable.
-Don't play GC wireless.
-Congested networks are bad
-Internet2 is a possible option for college campuses (not entirely sure how it works, read big chunk)
-Distance is most important thing for pings. |

You'll have to give me a little more notice than that next time. |

So, why is there nobody and who wants to play with me?
Come on guys, Mario Kart is funny as hell, play it! |

Hey KnitterX, if you wanna play POST WHERE YOUR LOCATION IS. Again, I can't stress how important that is. Read other posts. I'm willing to play if you're in a close enough location, and there are a few others who are willing also, so if you really want to play, post back. |

Hey, KnitterX! Here we go again - as OGEV stated: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! You gotta tell us what State you are in - through XLink Kai MKDD will not be playable between Washington and New York.
Do not get upset if you do not see anybody online - it has nothing to do with people not wanting to play with you . Right now, because Kai MKDD community is EXTREMELY small, we have to set up game dates & times in advance (as duly noted by JKJK above).
And, by the way - welcome to XLink Kai ! |

Yep, it looks like some of the users went "dormant" for the lack of better word, or simply gave up on trying to find partners for a game... And you are right - distance related lag was likely a key factor contributing to the loss of popularity... |

Yeah, back when I joined in 2005 there were a few more routine players. I could go on just about any day and find the regulars. Most of the routine users I played with were on the East coast, with a couple in Texas, and a couple over in California. Occasionally, I'd find a couple here in the Midwest, but they'd lose interest quickly, unfortunatly. |

Ya, it's just timing... Me and OGEV just happen to be on kai at the same time. It usually takes up a while to set up because our GC's are usually disconnected, but we've done it plenty of times and its pretty fun. Its just timing... |

I've been a member since mid July 2007 and I've been looking around for more DoubleDashers (and annoying all the moderators about it in general chat) I'm glad I've found this post. (Forgot Xlink had forums...)
I'm in El Segundo, Ca near the LAX airport.
I've got the cheep-cheep TimeWarner "RoadRunner" cable (1.5M x 384K)
Reply here or IM me: monsteroftheid@yahoo.com
I'm going to hook up my cube again in antici.......pation.
Also, I've been looking for the actuall download link for GCARS and MUCH better instructions. I don't have PSO (any version) so if there is a way to do that I'd like to hear it. I don't think the PSO steps would work much anyway since Sega took down their game servers. |

I found it pretty much impossible to meet any GCers online randomly... You have to PM people to arrange a game, or at least test the connection speed (just look through the nics on the forum, like OGEV or jkjk)... I would help you test it, but the game will likely be unplayable because of very high pings - I am in Ontario, Canada...
As far as PSO goes, it has nothing to do with SEGA servers - PSO is used only to establish a connection from your PC to your Cube...
And BTW, PSO online gaming is alive and kicking - just Google " free PSO server"
For GCARS you have to go to http://fuzziqersoftware.com/files/downloads.html
I would suggest you bug your friends around town, whoever owns a Cube and a BBA, and see if you can interest them in MKDD party... Or PSO for that matter
