are you saying you have
NIC1-------------------------------->internetconnection
NIC2---(crossovercable)---------->console
Or are you saying that you cant reach the network on kai?
To check, in upper left of kai click magnifying glass icon, then look for
"Network Reachable:" Does it say "Yes" or "Not Yet"? |

so kai does login, but it does not see your xbox?
Its a problem with the type of cable your connecting the xbox to the pc with.
Youl need a crossover to connect the xbox directly to your pc and in kai config select from the dropdown under Network Adapter the card that the xbox is connected to, if your not sure then leave it on auto detect |

make sure the status lights on the xbox network adapter light up when connected, if not then your cable is not good. |

Generally ya only need ICS if its a weird connection. Like wireless or a USB modem. I'd network the xbox and PC, then use DHCP for the internet connection and see if that helps. You may have to portforward the router if its got a hardware firewall. |
