My guess would be that both the System Link programming and the Live programming share common libraries for handling connectivity between consoles. Encrypting this data stream prevents man in the middle attacks where hackers would sniff out the stream or inject their own code to cheat. That is a good thing believe me.
The problem is Microsoft uses this same encrypted stream to hide communication calls that stop network games from being playable over slower networks (Internet). Decrypting the encrypted stream would enable us to modify what ever calls are arbitrarily limiting game play based on speed.

Well if you have modded your 360, and then copy games and expect to get away scot free then tough cookie. I dont buy games with my money just let a bunch of free loaders cadge a lift... Reap what you sow if you ask me  |

It was obviously only a matter of time before before MS figured it out, but don't count out the modding community yet.
I also just wanted to give a shout out to all you righteous people out there who have never modded anything, or infringed on any copyrights or even picked up an MP3 off the internet. Hypocrites.....are the worst fucking people on Earth. Right there on the list above liars and pirates

Seems like most systems being banned are ones that are spoofing drive.

i’m on Hitachi v79 drive. with the first firmware hack that came out for it |

its anyone using the first frimware hack thats getting banned, its only for the hitatchi, not the TH's & SH's, i havent gotton banned cuz i have a latter frimware hack |

rawsteal, i wasnt saying it was just the original frimware, its a general statement when the spring update came out... thats what they were shooting for |

gehx, I enjoyed the read, but I can honestly say he is wrong in a lot of his assumptions.
He is correct about hitachi stealth, but wrong about the number of hitachi's banned. All consoles were banned and I don't believe anybody has enough data to conclude that Almost all Hitachi were banned. Case-N-Point those who have flashed there hitachi once before being connected are still online. Thus, MS ability to check backup games is very limited. I modded two of my friends 360's and both of them are still using the original 2.1-opaREVb and are still online. However, I did enjoy reading his remarks and the infomation from the specialist was awesome! |

I agree 'bout the shitachi's .... I was banned (shitachi) yet 2 of my friends have shitachis and weren't banned. |

My info is no one really knows how they are doing it at this point, lots of speculation but no one really knows.
The bottom line is MS are a law unto themselves and will enforce their rules anyway possible.

I'm not technically on Kai yet but that's the reason I'm here...lol. Well that's not totally true me and my mate tried getting it working before but couldn't do it, so this as gave us another incentive to.
Anyway I got my Console banned but the only think that annoys me is that any games I played over Live where legit copies, as the Backed up ones were the 2 minute games or simply to test them before I buy.
So I can still do that after getting another Xbox 360 (that I'll still be paying for come 2054) but there you go.
It was the right thing for them to do, I just wish they had looked it from other angles and actually made sure that the people that had it where actually using it. |

I was banned, by thedaddy for saying something on another forum. Nobody has unbanned me yet from it, so I left and started playing xbl.... TheDaddy didn't like my comments, but I placed them not even on this site....but bigons be bigons. |

Yea looks promising but to a degree, I'm actually glad I have two Xbox 360's, one in which I can basically do what I want without fear of Updates that will either Ban me or stop me doing what I want.
So in a weird way I'm actually glad they banned me, just slightly disappointed it didn't happened earlier so I could of took advantage of all the Early Expolits that are now being built upon.
Oh well... |
