I have two routers one main connected to the cable modem and a secondary that distributes to the rest of the house. The xbox is on the second router. I have set the xbox IP in the dmz so that it can connect to the engine running on my server (on the main router). I can access file shares through xbmc on the server fine, but the console is not detected by the engine.

Note: I am in Halo2 system link looking for a match.

Are you sure? Maybe I didn't explain the setup well enough. Here is an outline.

Cable Modem
|
|-Router 1
|
|-Server
|-Router 2
|
|-Xbox

Router 2 has the xbox IP in the DMZ.

Router 1 should have router 2 ip in DMZ NOT THE XBOX IP.

Maybe I don't understand what DMZ is but I thought placing an IP/device in the DMZ meant you are in effect placing that IP/device outside the router.

Is this right?

I placed the xbox in the dmz for router 2 and b/c the server and router 2 are on Router 1 so it should be able to connect to the server just like it was on the same router.

(Taken from DD-WRT Router)

The DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) hosting feature allows one local user to be exposed to the Internet for use of a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming or videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one PC. The Port Forwarding feature is more secure because it only opens the ports you want to have opened, while DMZ hosting opens all the ports of one computer, exposing the computer so the Internet can see it.

Note
Any PC whose port is being forwarded must should have a new static IP address assigned to it because its IP address may change when using the DHCP function.

Thanks [BR]Dan, i think that is consistent with my understanding of dmz.

So any other suggestions on my setup?

XBMC does find the engine running but the engine doesn't see the console.

What can I do?

ok put router2's ip address in DMZ mode, as well as the ip of the pc running kai...

Also disable DHCP on router 2, as it is just being used as a switch im assuming.... Wink
