Yah, I got 2 XBL kits and I'm gonna activate one around mid-November, just to see how the XBL UI is, and how the lag and such is there.. But there's many people who I've spoken to on Kai who we have games planned, and I know so many people around here, it'd be stupid to leave
& I agree with the voice mask thing... The retarded robot things suck, and the one's like "child" or something. I can't see me playing on XBL much, I play here |

Halo 2 will be the same as far as system link. 2-16 players on 4 xboxs.
The reason? Having more than 4 xbox's and more than 16 players is too much information for the xbox to handle. there simply isn't enough bandwidth to handle everybody. There is so much that the xbox needs to keep track of, and having a boatload of players doesn't help. If any of you have tried an "official" system link game with 16 players, you will notice that when all 16 players are doing something, such as firing, or if many are driving a warthog, it tends to slowdown. That is because the xbox is struggling to keep up with the shitload of information flying in to be processed. It has to keep track of all the players, as well as process graphics. |

Does anyone know if Halo 2 System-link will work in the same way as Live, in the respect of host switching?
'Cause for live, the game will detect the player with the most bandwidth and make him/her the host. Then when he/she leaves it will automatically change host to be the next best player (connection wise).
I know usually there would be no reason to do this, as System link is designed to be played locally. But given bungie's "encouragement" of tunnels.... Has anyone heard if this might be implemented or not?
I know it's a long-shot, and most probably won't happen, but just wondering if anyone has seen anything in regards to this.
EDIT: Never mind. I read it again and realised what a stupid question it is.
-Sorry bout that.
...It sounded good in my head... promise. |

NarutoKun that's not my picture or tv, i don;t even have a digital camera, it was a pic a friend im'd me, he saw it posted on an xbox messageboard
Spartan_328, after reading a few xbox forums etc, it seems that it is indeed a max of 16 xboxes
[MF]Tr1pleThr34t, from reading a few xbox forums etc, it seems that it is indeed the way system link works when the host drops
you guys need to read some more xbox related forums... |

I went to a local game store (EB Games) and they had a display for when u preorder Halo 2 you get a metal box, so i lookked on the back of the box on display there and it said System Link 2-10!!! Only 10! At least in Halo there was 16, this is gonna suck if that happens........ |
Bungie already confirmed it would be possible to play with 16 players on 16boxes .... system link and live ... |

Will playing too many players in halo 2 create more memory consumption, or meaning, will network connections be stable by having 16 characters running around, shooting the hell of each other requiring more speed (connection) such as a T1 or T3? This question seems tidious but hopefully someone could understand |

Oh its not tidious, its a good question actually but the answer is that it will create more memeory consuption, but the game is mean't for Xbox Live so it has a very good Netcode, I mean there are ALOT more games on Live than Kai. Its would be recomended like any other game, to make a private arena to reduce the lag factor especially in Halo (Halo 1) |

Alright everyone listen up. Click here to see the xbox lan party page. The first paragraph reads:
Quote: |
We all know it’s good to play together. It’s great to play split-screen with your buddies on the sofa, and it’s outright phenomenal to play friends around the world on Xbox Live™. But there is another option. It’s called System Link, which means linking your Xbox® to another Xbox (and another and another … ) In fact, in some games (like the upcoming Halo® 2), you can link up to 16 Xbox consoles together! |
Hopefully xlink can handle it. |
