Is your network reachable?
I am disconnected from the orbital during the login process.
Are you using a port-forward?
yes i have setup ports 2008-2009 for port forwarding in both xlink kai, and my router.
Is your console being detected?
my console was not being detected initially. I was working on trying the get kai to detect my console when this problem arose.
Brief description of your network setup:
ISP----Cable Modem---rp614v2 netgear router ----crossover cable----switch---[Xbox, Home PC (kai server) ]
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it?
I was initially using zone alarm home ed. but disabled it completley in trying to troubleshoot these problems.
Operating System?
Windows 2000 Workstation
Problem description?
Upon logging in to kai i am disconnected from the orbital. I was able to connect fine, but after disconnecting to change my network configuration i am now unable to login. I recieve a dialog box with the title "kaiEngine"
with the following textbox:
Your orbital server connection was lost. You will need to restart Kai. This happens for a number of reasons - they are listed below:

-Your internet connection has failed
-Your orbital server is down for maintenance.
-You have been disconnected for using banned language.
-An administrator has diconnected you.
-You were flooding a chatroom.

Do these things,

1. Portforward 3000 UDP to the PC's IP address.
2. Enter '30000' into Kai Port. Leave Kai Deep Port as 0.
3. Untick 'Enable PAT'
4. Change 'Network Adapter' to 'Autodetect and lock'

See where you go with those steps completed.

I have applied all the setting you have mentioned in the above post, but i still recieve the same error. After uninstalling kai and reinstalling kai it let me connect to the server one time, but after disconnecting and reconnecting once , i started getting the same error. I tried repeating the same process of uninstalling and reinstalling, but it would'nt let me sign on at all. Thank you for your help, i really appreciate it. Kai looks like it would be alot of fun, if i can get these issues resolved. Smile

I made a typo. Step 1 should have said 30000 not 3000.

I'm beginning to wonder whether this issue is something related to your Windows 2000 Workstation OS.. I highly doubt it's the result of ZA going gay, but ZA's always been a complete bitch..

I installed a fresh copy of xp on my system, and installed kai...i get the same error still, so i guess its not win2k acting up, and i have no firewalls setup on my machine now, so zone alarm must not have been an issue either. Could it be possible that my ip address is banned? Very strange considering ive never even talked in a chat room, or even suscessfully got kai to detect my xbox to join games.

Right.. well this is weird..

Only other things I can think of right now to help corner the problem.

1. Update network drivers if any.
2. Eliminate the switch by having the PC and XBox go direct to your router (only to test for now). If that works, the problem lies in your switch..

A Banned IP would just result in "Authentication Failed" in the client - so this must be something different..

It looks like the orbital is not matching your IP address to the one it takes from the orb poll... which is pretty strange..

I'm looking into it right now - I'll let you know if I find anything.

Well looks like it may be something on the server end not liking my ip address...ive tried eliminating the switch from the network setup, but still had the same problems. I have also checked, i am running the latest drivers for my nic. Then i tried firing up my laptop and running kai on it. (Winxp SP1) over a wired connection, with the same problem on the laptop. Ive also tried restarting my cable modem to get a new ip address, but it seems to assign me the same one, even though i dont pay for a static ip address. Below is some information regarding my router setup, incase this will help troubleshoot the problem.

Router Status
