I've been playing Monster Hunter 2 for Japanese version... my friend decided to buy one himself, but he bought the American version.... can we do multiplayer? I know that Pokemon and megaman worked back then on DS... but I wasn't too positive about MH2.... any clue?
if we can, I'm gonna ask him to pick up a wifi link, coz he's in canada and I'm in US lol |

That's not true!
If you have any version of MHF2 (US, EUR, JP) you can play together over kai.
You simply can't play ad-hoc together |

oh... that's odd....
RingK did you and your friend try using ad-hoc or Kai?
that's kinda a weird concept tho, isn't it that Kai just kinda emulate ad-hoc?
I just kinda tried and entered a kai english Monster hunter 2 room with my japanese monster hunter 2... I was able to see two other people in the room, but I didn't try to start a game tho coz I gotta go back to work.... |

Heres why you cant play. Its cause NTSC and PAL are 2 differnt region setups. Some games such as halo 2 can play with both but most games cant. You cant play mixed with NTSC and PAL mhf |

That Isn't true, anyone with a PSP that has custom firmware can enter into recovery mode and make it Region free so you can play monster hunter with two different region settings. |

well, I guess it all comes down to.... what is REALLY limiting the players to ply against each other. Is it the version of the game (which I don't think so since it worked with me when I tried it last night) or the region of the firmware?
about the custom firmware tho, I think you can make your PSP's UMD movie player to region free in the recovery mode. That shouldn't have anything to do with playing games |

The person above me is right, that is only for movies. And if they ever add a region only game. |
