Ok i'm very sorry if i'm just making a fool of myself here,
But is the nintendo DS supported by kai?
I heard it was once but support ceased? i wasnt given a good explanation and it may have been rumor.
I have looked for the answer myself but couldnt find it in general or gamecube (the only nintendo area) and typing DS in the search function gives no results
So could someone tell me if it is supported, or if indeed there is another program doing it already which would explain why kai didnt bother, its just as the new Crystal chronicles has been released here in england im anxious to play with others,
No huge deal if not, as the PSP community is amazing and is enough for me, thanks Team xlink for that!

The psp has wifi so your saying theres no point in that?
the point would be to play the games that are offline multiplayer only or games where the servers are no longer running, kai could be used to trade pokemon to get them all or to play final fantasy chocobo tales or crystal chronicles which are great multiplayer games but arent online.
there would be a POINT i was just asking maybe an admin if getting ds support would be in the forseeable future? i dont want to sound stuck up tho >.<
it would be nice is all im saying |

No, its not. At one time we did attempt to tunnel it over kai. If I recall correctly, the reason was that the Nintendo DS uses some proprietary ad hoc mode(nicked named "NiFi") instead of normal ad hoc mode(using WiFi). Apparently, that made the DS not able to be tunneled. I wish I could tell you for sure, but I was not active on the XLink forums back when it was trying to be tunneled. |

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here but was the potential ever researched into this device:

This thing can definitely produce a signal the DS can interpret. The only thing left is if you can route the destination to act as an ad-hoc bridge instead of trying to take you to the Nintendo WFC. |

I was around. i was a DS mod back in the day. The team attempted to tunnel it. there were sucessful connections but it was really buggy and not even worth the effort at all. a game couldnt be played at all just recognition from the other handhelds, it took a specific wifi dongle with a specific chip set that wasnt available except in import and it was fairly expensive. they tested it with mario 64x4 with the mini games. never really worked. there used to be a video online but that was soon lost.
So. Boiling everything down, the team tried, and was never fully successful at tunneling the DS and a wasted effort.
Most games hardly ever use the multi player modes anymore. The biggest online games for it are the pokemon games which have online vs, and online trading via the GTS and NiFi multiplayer mode for battles and trades and junk like that.

You are mistaken. The DS has 802.11b/g and Nifi. even if you create a vpn with the ds signal with in a program and connect it to another it still wouldnt work. xlink would have to have a Nintendo WFC server emulator for the game to connect to. The games are coded with info on how to connect to the server, the ds only stores info about the connecton. so if u can get ur hands on NWFC server emulation software its possible BUT that is illegal to have said software. Its similar when thinking about xbox games. if u want them to "bypass live" the games have to be coded to connect to something different.
BTW i own that adapter. this is a wifi dongle. completely 802.11b/g. the chipset is basically the same as a standard wifi dongle u buy from best buy. it cannot connect to the adhoc/nifi protocol. ive tested it. no deal. The ds only connects to WEP incriptions not WPA. the DSi Might connect to WPA. the wii can do WPA i think.
Oh and btw guys, this horse you speak of has already started to decay lol another horse ate the grass where the dead horse lay and the new one is starting to get clubbed.
With Nintendo, I own. Custom Title Plz? "Nintendo Specialist" lmao |
