Hi all!
This is my first post in xbox360 section asking for something. Been a member of XLink since 2005 and played thousands of hours with my Original XBOX - thanks guys for that once more - I just got a 360 (yeah yeah thanx!) and last Saturday i tried to play over Xlink with a friend, the Forza Motorsport 2.If that could happened the road will then be open for all System Link games.
We are on the same ISP and on Xlinks UI our ping was 11ms (yeap). When i created a game so my friend could join, he saw the game but a message "could not join or game is unavailable" (something like that) appeared on screen.
Same if he created a game and I was the one who tried to join.
As I said, we are both on same ISP, our ping time (viewing on XLink's UI) was 11ms (playable 11ms to 12ms never above that). What did went wrong? Maybe some firewall? I dont think so. Maybe the connection to orbital (meclan.de)? I pinged to meclan.de and i got a 56ms.
So even each other ping is low (11ms), the ping to orbital have to be lower than 20-30ms too?
Crazy thought: In that case, do i have to set my own Orbital server for Greek players?

as i remember mine got an update the first time i put it on tray...i don't know about my friend....is there any update issue?
The silly thing is that we've tried only FM2. We said if FM2 worked, it will work for all others. |

it could very well be the update stopping you from playing because as far as i know M$ stuck a Network Update in there game updates for when they updated xbox live. So see if you both can get your hands on another game and try that |

OK guys, thank you both for your info... maybe something like that was happened...who knows... i'll try to find another game and test it.
But as far as i understood from your replies our ping limit (11ms) is ok for playing...and orbital's ping (56ms on my side) does not bother the system link gaming, right? (sorry about my english) |

stay away, you're getting scrooge because you don't spent 50 euros for a chip for your Original XBOX (that's why you return to PC gaming)...i didn't got 360 specially for Xlink... lol!
You can't even download the MP of Halo 2 to your original XBOX and you ask for free solutions, 163€ for a graphics card isn't so much against a chip ? |
