Is your network reachable? Not Yet
Are you using a port-forward? Yes, 30000
Is your console being detected? Yes, just fine too
Brief description of your network setup: Dlink DI-604 (fully updated) router connecting PC and PS2 to Actiontec GT701-WG DSL modem.
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? Disabled XP SP2 firewall
Operating System? Windows XP SP2
Problem description? Everything is perfect except for the Network Reachable.

So yeah, I myself and a slew of friends have tried everything possible to get this working correctly. MAC address is blocked successfully, as the PS2 is detected just fine. We've done everything we can possibly think of:
DHCPs are static for both PC and PS2
Port Forwarding allowed me to get my PS2 to realize it was connecting to Xlink
Enabled firewall passage for Xlink in case there was one I don't know about
All software and hardware are updated.
I do NOT have a network config saved on my PS2 memory card, as I was told by friends this was not needed. Regardless, I attempted to make one (through the router) and had constant failures to get all the way through. Perhaps a firewall there in the modem, I'm not sure. If this is crucial I can try it, but I seem so close without it, and the problem seems more to be either on Xlink or on the Router.

Please help?

This is the same router I have although I do not port forward. Have you tried it with no port forward? I also have to select my Network card in the Xlink Kai config tool so if you have not done this give it a try. Report back after please.

The thing is, if I don't do port forwarding, my PS2 isn't configured correctly in Xlink Kai, and that's the problem there.

And yes, I have the individual Network card selected.

As for the MSN remote assistance, it will have to be sometime this evening after 6:30 PST, or Monday after 2:00 PST.

Thats not possible - they are unrelated systems - port opening *cannot* affect console detection... maybe give it a go again with Kai Port = 0 ?

Okay, turned port forwarding off.

Yay! the PS2 is still detected.

However, the Network is still Not Yet reachable. The port forwarding was removed and the port in Kai Config set to 0.

The Network Adapter is still specific, rather than Automatic and Locked.
I also tried Automatic and Unlocked and Automatic and Locked once more just to see....same story.

So there you go. Port Forwarding or not, the settings seem not to like me.

Sounds like you're port-forwarding to the wrong machine then. Make sure you are pointing it to the correct IP (the PC that runs Kai).

I already made that mistake before, and port forwarded to the PS2 when I did.

Then I corrected it to forward to the PC. So it was port forwarding to the correct IP.

OK, as Funk said, we removed the port-forward, and removed the firewall rules that were set. Everything works fine now. Setting thread to Problem solved.
