This is the error I get when ever the engine starts. I've heard it's being worked on I simply wanted to give a more detailed post of the error.

execvp(epiphany, http://localhost:34522/) failed with error 2!

I also get this error when I right click the engine in the tray and tell it to launch and i get a similar error for the configuration...just for the config page obviously.

The problem is that Kai is running as root, but your browser settings are all attached to your normal user id so it gets confused. It's trying to run Epiphany instead of Firefox. If you log in as root and set your default browser to Firefox I think it'll work.

guessed im just doomed to fight my laziness and start the UI manually

If i were you i would stick to doing it manually simply because i hate haven XLink on one sep browser window while the others are being used frequently. i rather have all my stuff in one window to keep my self organized as for you I'm not sure how big your monitor is but mines a 17" and it kinda sucks and no that's not wide screen its full screen
