Is your network reachable?
No
Are you using a port-forward?
Yes
Is your console being detected?
Yes
Brief description of your network setup:
Speedstream DSL modem, Linksys WRT54G Broadband Router, all connections are wired.
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it?
No
Operating System?
WinXP Home SP1
Problem description?
Network Reachable: Not Yet, therefore, no games appear for me. I have forwarded and triggered port 30000 on the router, tried disabling the firewall in the router, and several other methods others on the forum have used. I read that WinXP has an automatic firewall, but only with SP2. Should I take the time to run the update, or would that even help me with connecting to Kai? I have connected to XBC in the past, but i was not satisfied with them, so i thought i might try Xlink Kai. All else fails, i will just wait a few more weeks and I can just play Halo 2 on XBL, which is virtually lagless for me.

Are you sure you do not have the Windows XP firewall on? Network not reachable usually means it's not allowed to talk because the ports are blocked. Also make sure that the port forward 30000 is enabled in the router for the IP of your computer, not the console. Do you have your Ethernet card selected in the Kai config, or is it "Auto detect and lock"? When you click the magnifying glass, what version does it say you are on? Report back when ready. |

Norton Internet Security Firewall is disabled and has the ports 3074 TCP/UDP and 30000 UDP forwarded. Same goes for the Windows Security Center Firewall (I went ahead with the XP SP2 update just so i would have little to no issues in the future). The only firewall i have left enabled is the one built into the WRT54G router, with the same port forwarding through my PC's IP.
I was using Auto Detect and Lock, then switched it to my NIC manually...still a no go. I am using version 7.0.4.4.
If i have been getting the "Microsoft Xbox, configured successfully" message since before i started fooling with the port forwarding, is it then logical to assume that the port forwarding is unnecessary with my configuration? I am also thinking the same about the NIC setting. I will try the erase and re-install when i get a little time, that is all i lack trying i believe.

network reachable will not say yes until you are booted into a link game and hosting or looking for a game. |

Network reachable will not appear until you are somewhere where people are pinging you - go sit in a busy arena - see if it goes to "Yes" then...
If not, I need a screenshot of your router config page..
