Requirements:
- LP-8187e with Realtek RTL8187 chipset

Setup (PSP)

Switch on your PSP without a game in and select "Network Settings".
Select "Ad Hoc Mode" and choose "1CH".
Now restart your PSP and start your game.

Setup (PC)

Plug your LP-8187e USB to USB Port
Install Driver, from Driver CD.

1. Load up Network Connections from your Control Panel.
2. Right-Click your "Wireless Network Connection" and then select "Properties".

Image

3. Here, (I've removed unnecessary Protocols - may not make any difference) - select "Internet Protocol" then click on "Properties"

Image

4. Enter an IP address from a private range (10.0.0.x or 192.168.0.x - "x" being 1 to 254 making sure no other devices are using that IP) and give the subnet of "255.255.255.0" and click "OK"

Image

5. Now, click on "Wireless Networks" tab then Select "Advanced"

Image

6. Select "Computer-to-Computer (ad hoc) networks only" and "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks" and then close.

Image

Setup REALTEK RTL8187 Wireless LAN Utility

1. Switch on your PSP first, then choose your game and go to Lobby network (example MHFU online Gathering or Tekken Battle Lobby).
2. Open REALTEK RTL8187 Wireless LAN Utility from your desktop.

Image

3. Click on "Set Wizard(s)" and "select Station (ad hoc)"

Image

7. Just follow everything on "Set Wizard" and Click on "Finish"

Image

8. If successfully configured you can see this activity from your General Tab.

Image

9. Select on "Advance" Tab and Enable "PSP Xlink Mode". This is the reason why I choose this cheap CDRKing WiFi USB Device, because it can support Xlink features.

Image

Setup Xlink Kai

1. Install Xlink Kai, after installation then Start Kai, Start>All Programs>Xlink Kai> Start Kai
2. It will ask you for KaiTag and Password, Just click "Configure Xlink Kai"

4. Next Make sure you put a check mark in the Follow PSP SSID check box.
5. Yours should look like this (except for the XTag And Pass).

Image

6. On your system try rick click the "XLink Kai" Icon and Select "Launch UI"

Image

7. And Login your Xlink Account.
8. And we will see this screen.

Image

9. Now let's Diagnose the connection. take a look at the Kai Diagnostics panel within Kai (you must press the Imageicon, then the Imageicon). And you will see this screen.

Image

10. Now let's check the Arena and Select "PSP" console.

Image

11. And select your Category, ex. Monster Hunter select "Action"

and scroll down to game tittle, "Monster Hunter Freedom Unite"

Piece of cake!
AWESOME!
Worked so damn great. Very Happy

I tried a Access Point mode, to access Internet on PSP, but I didn't get it.
Can you post some hints to get that?

THANKS!

EDIT: I figure how to do it, my firewall was blocking my connection. >_<
Now is everything OK. Smile

What OS did you use? So Xlink detects your psp, so try to configure your PSP for Network Settings as Ad Hoc and set it to Channel 1

But Xlink will detect your PSP if properly configured.

Read the guide again.

Ok, everything is set up. XLink can see the PSP and says it's configured. I can see the engine is receiving traffic. Everyone is 0 Sony - 1 Player and I never see anyone in the GH, room 01.

another reason that you cant see anyone in GH because of shared internet connection, like behind router.

try to test it with single PC user like this configuration.

Phone line -> DSL Modem/Router -> Your PC -> USB wifi

If your connection is like this.

Phone line -> DSL Modem/Router -> Switch -> PC1/PC2 -> USB wifi

Then you will experience some problem.

Just like what I have post here.

http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36979

My solution is when no one is using my other PC, I just connect my modem directly to my pc.

But you need to tweak your DSL Modem for single user, which is bridge mode not in router mode.

I'm using windows 7 and every time i want to connect to game I have to manually connect psp with my adapter.
I've read that it'd connect automatically if I would uninstall the realtek USB wireless lan utility, but i'm not sure if it's a good idea with xlink.
Any ideas?

Hey smarkies, great guide. I bought my own usb wifi from CD-R thanks to your guide. Its all smooth thanks your help but I still have a few problems.

One thing, my psp gets detected by the wifi, but when I turn on kai engine, the psp gets disconnected. It seems that it is because of the 'advanced option' under the wireless network tab in the properties of the wifi. When I recheck it, everything is fine and the psp gets redectected. However, this is where things get wonky. After the psp gets detected, the checkbox on the advanced tab gets removed again and I have to repeat the process each time my psp leaves wlan mode and reenters again. Its not bad in games like dissidia where the connection is consistent, however in games like monster hunter where you have to leave the wlan in order to change equipment it becomes bothersome, any help?

While I'm normally not one to raise the dead (threads) I'm quite thankful I found this. I got a card with my ASRock P45R2000-WiFi motherboard which uses the RTL8187 chipset. The drivers that come with the motherboard don't work for this, however going to Realtek and downloading the latest RTL8187L drivers worked for me. It gave me the same screens as above, and set up was quite easy. For the first time I was able to see people wander around the guild hall, and join a game with someone (thanks again for the test, Vetch).

So for those of you in a similar boat, go try those drivers and maybe it'll work out for you too.

It does not seem to be related to this tutorial.

"ORBITAL SYNC LOST" can occur either when you did not portforward or servers have a "disease". Do you have a "You are unreachable-Please check portforwarding" message while getting disconnected?

www.teamxlink.co.uk

If the "Orbital Mesh sync" is not 100%, you may not be able to connect. Just wait for it to get back to those 100%.
