i just joined and is ms miles or what? cuz i wanna play with people from a different state and 30 miles isn't going to allow me to play with them. Or am i completely wrong and ms stands for something else. tell me please lol

Ms stands for the ping: it is arbitrary and does not mean something especially.

The higher it is, the most far you are from your opponent. It is related to distance but is not the number of miles between both of you.

No. ms = milliseconds, 0.0001 seconds.
It is a measure of time.

1000ms = 1 second

Ping is just simply the time that will take packets to get from the host to the client machine...

And yes "(-TU-)CrunchBite" Ur right...

30ms means the packets must get the the clients in between 30 miliseconds, if not xbox will refuse the conection...

in Narolf's defense, ping does have an indirect relation to distance. generally, the farther you are away from the person, the higher the ping will be. it also depends on the ISP among a variety of other things.

the xbox won't necessarily "refuse the connection" if ping is higher than 30ms. 30 is the general cap, but I have had games working with a higher ping than that, games not working with a lower ping.
