How-to use D-Link DWL G122 with Windows 7/XP at 32/64-bit:

CAUTION:

- This guide was written to use this network adapter with XLink Kai and Windows 7. For use with Windows XP, you can use these drivers, but you must follow a procedure similar to that to install on Windows 7.

- The driver used is version 3.30 (E) copied from the original CD for XP but fully functional with Windows 7 32-bit (64 bit I have not tested with XLink Kai, but I guess it would work)

- It isn't necessary to enable ‘Internet Connection Sharing’ (ICS) as other guides say.

- In some circumstances, the ‘Diagnostic Mode’ in XLink Kai appears to only show the MAC address of the PSP without the image and the description: ‘Sony PSP successfully configured’: this is not necessarily an issue as it can still work.

- Download the file from THIS link containing the original drivers for the network adapter D-Link DWL-G122 and extract the files in any location, such as your desktop.

INSTALLATION:

Run the ‘Control Panel’ and if you have activated the default categories, click ‘Hardware and Sound’, and ‘Device Manager’ (found under the writing ‘Devices and Printers’) and if you have activated the display of all elements of the Control Panel (or small icons/large icons) open ‘System’ and ‘Device Manager’.
Now there are two cases:

If the network adapter driver is already installed (Windows 7 will install automatically if you find them on the Windows Update site and if the setting is set to download automatically), open the D-Link DWL-G122 (name can vary) menu in ‘Network Adapters’.

If the device driver is not installed (it will show an adapter with a ‘!’ next to it) open 802.11 bg WLAN by other devices.

Now open the ‘Driver tab’ and choose ‘Update Driver’. Find the driver software on your computer, pick from a list of device drivers on the computer, ‘Have Disk’ and ‘Browse’. Now you must choose the File menu Dr71WU.inf found in the folder where you extracted the drivers previously (if your OS is 64-bit, choose the file from the Win64 folder and if it is 32-bit (x86) folder, select it from 2KXPx86)

The system will install the driver, just hit ‘Next’ and ‘OK’ when prompted to. Once the process is complete, close the installation window and open the ‘Advanced tab’, choose ‘Ad hoc Wireless Mode’ and change the value to side with 802.11 B / G mix (this step is not necessary to play with XLink Kai, but to have an ad hoc connection faster with other devices) and to avoid problems should be disable Power-Saving Mode (set CAM - Constantly Awake Mode).

Next ensure ‘PSP Xlink Mode’ is set to ‘Enabled’, otherwise XLink Kai will not work.

Now open the ‘Network and Sharing Center’ from the taskbar (Tray Bar) by clicking the network icon or open ‘Network and Sharing Center’, from the Control Panel.

Choose ‘Edit Settings tab’, click the right button on the device, ‘Property and Internet Protocol version 4’. Select ‘Use the following IP address’ in the box and enter the IP Address, 10.0.0.4 (or any IP address that is not used by another device on your network), enter 255.255.255.0 in the Subnet mask and leave the empty boxes to the DNS server.
Now click ‘OK’ and close the Properties window.

Once you have completed the steps above, select the wireless network connection that is your DWL G122 (through ‘Network and Sharing Center) and connect to that network.

For configuration of the XLink Kai program itself, please refer to other guides HERE:
