Looking for Kai Engine...

Is your network reachable? No
Are you using a port-forward? no
Is your console being detected? No
Brief description of your network setup: Directly Connected to a cable modem, no firewall or router, everything works fine i cac get on the internet. Hard wired.
Do you use a software firewall? I dont use a firewall
Operating System? WindowsXP Pro + SP2
Problem description? When I click on Start Kai, it loads, dl's some stuff, then opens a long, tall box, at the top it says:
XLink Kai
Looking for Kai Engine...

At the bottem it says:
Welcome to Kai: Evolution VII..
Welcome to the Windows Kai client. Please sign in with your Xtag and password you registered with.

I am DIrectly connected to the internet, no firewall, and I cant connect to Kai. I just says looking for kai engine.

When I click on Start Kai Coonfig Tool it stars up like the normal Kai does when it loads with a bar that goes across the windows, but when it gets to 100% the little windows closes, and nothing else happens.

Looks like you have some software firewall installed which is stopping the UI talkin to the engine - even though theyre on the same PC.. also, make sure the engine is running in your system tray. (little upside down T icon).

I must ask, how's the console attached?

Second, your modem might indeed have a control panel which you can set up port exclusions (you shouldnt; need to).

Third, run the Kai Config. Tool and select 'Normal Kai Use' profile.

Go to C:\Program Files\XLink Kai Evo7 and make sure there is a kaiEngine.exe in that location.

And if you are running XP you have a firewall. You might have it disabled, but they all have them.

windows firewall disabled, and when i run kai config, i dont have a window to select normal kai use

My modem has a management page, but no firewall or closed ports.

Looks like you downloaded as we were updating

Go into the kai folder in program files, delete kaiEngine.exe

Restart Kai..

yes, i have that file, but when i click on it, a windows comes up saying i cant run it.

ok, I will completly remove kai again and also do a sys restore, then redownload it, and install it.

Okay, but I think if you just delete that one file it will download the rest for you. But reinstalling works as well. Report back if it resolves the problem.

No need for a system restore. Definately sounds like a corrupt download. Just uninstall, delete the directory. Download the installer from a new mirror at http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/?go=download and let it autoupdate again.

after i install it, should it take along time to download everything when the window comes up

right now its at download KaiUserInterface package and not moving at all
