everything seems ok, but...

Hey,

Ubuntu 10.04 64bit.

I've got the engine (7.4.18) running (used getlibs to combat the library issue).
I'm using the java front-end (have used the web one too).

I get connected.
I acheive orbital sync.
I'm reachable.
My network card says locked:no

When i power on my ps3 it gets a new private address.
The DNS server gets set to 192.168.0.1 (from memory, I'm at work). This is strange because i'm not on that subnet, but then from what i read, i should be getting DNS errors anyhow (which i am).

When i search for a lan game (only tried borderlands so far) I can see my mac in the client and it says configured successfully. I also have another mac appear that doesn't seem to be a mac at all and that complains of DHCP failure (maybe it's one of my routers..).

So we're all good to go, right? poo....

Regardless of whether i host or join, me and my friend (almost exactly the same setup) can't seem to connect to each other.

There doesn't seem to be any traffic being picked up on the client(engine) from my PS3.

My worry at this point is the Locked:NO section. My ps3 has picked up an address OK, so i thought this wouldn't matter - but maybe that's my issue?
the web client says locked:1 (which i had considered to be yes until i saw the java version. There's a chance that the java version has an incorrect int to bool conversion, but that doesn't seem likely).

one last bit of info that might make a difference, i guess:
Downstairs:
PS3 wired -> router/switch "A"
linux box wired -> router/switch "A"
Upstairs:
router/switch "A" wired -> router/switch "B"
router/switch "B" wired -> modem (virginmedia UK)

Any help/advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
