I'm running a windows 7 OS. I tried running the XLinkKai installer and I get the message:

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not properly Installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

I have tried other installers for other programs and they work just fine, even in safe mode. Windows 7 however won't allow it to install in safemode (with a message saying something like windows must be booted in regular mode and try again).

*scratches head* any idea?

Try re-installing Windows Installer 3.1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en

The download you are suggesting is not supported by windows 7, nor is it even the newest... the newest is 4.5, which i have

keep in mind, other installers work on my computer, just not xlink
