Is your network reachable? yes
Are you using a port-forward? Yes
Is your console being detected?. N/A
Brief description of your network setup: PC and Xbox Hardwired to modem/router Netgear 834GT
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? Avast , switched it off as well as MS firewall
Operating System? Windows 7
Problem description?
I cannot start xlink
When i first installed it i had the pssdk library issue so i read the forum and did what was needed
I have run it in xp sp2 compatability mode and as admin
UAC is off, and always off
Now it just starts to load then says Xlink Kai engine has stopped working
So i followed some more forum advice from here and uninstalled the program removed the App data folder, downloaded cc cleaner and ran it, then downloaded a fresh copy of Xlink and installed that, set the compatability mode to XP sp3 and made sure it was running as admin ..
And i get the same problem , it happens on either start Kai or Configure Kai, but start user interface works
Any help would be great
Regards

Ok a quick update to let you know where things are at
Since the last post i have
Removed xlink again, used a registry tool tool tidy up and remove all traces of Xlink
Used windows update to get the latest updates .
Removed firefox and re downloaded it , removed Java and re downloaded it
Downloaded winpcap and run it
defragged the whole pc overnight and then re installed Xlink and set the setting for compatibility and admin
Still i have no luck in getting it to run
It starts to load then hangs on the graphic and then i get the popup saying it had to close
Any ideas on how to get it to run?
This PC is solely a gaming PC, i have a wireless laptop that i use for all my other stuff, this runs Vista and Xlink runs fine on that
I may have to plug it into the ethrnet and use that if all else fails
Thanks
Slim

Maybe you have a firewall or an anti-virus blocking Kai? And try running it as an administrator if you're not doing that. |

Assuming you're using the latest version of Kai...
Do you have any other network devices connected to your router? I recently fixed an issue in an upcoming version of Kai that would crash it when it tries to process UPnP traffic from certain network devices.
It's hard to say what your particular problem is at this point but I would recommend trying the above and also try installing WinPcap as the creators of PSSDK have actually discontinued updating and supporting it.
Let me know how it goes. |

Hi
Thanks for the reply
It think its a problem with either windows 7 or this desktop PC
I can run Xlink on my laptop and play fine with all the same network devices
My laptop runs vista
i have not tried to get it running on the desktop for a while, i will have another go and let you know the outcome
Regards

i just downloaded it and i got the exact same problem right off the bat!
all i did was run it in vista service pack 2 compatibility and ran it as administrator, worked like a charm.
Advice if you still havent gotten it working. |
