Today I managed to get Xlink to detect my original Xbox, I am using an Ethernet cord between my Laptop and my Xbox. At first my computer, cord and Xbox were fine, but then a message popped up saying something along the lines of "This connection has limited or no connectivity."
At first I tried to make it find my Xbox through Halo 2, but it wouldn't detect it. Although after a few minutes of searching for a System Link game in Counter-Strike I refreshed the Kai Engine and it said that it was reachable and Xbox was under "Found consoles." Despite the previous message.
I'm assuming this is about the Ethernet Cord because when I look at my connections, under my Ethernet Cord connection it says "Limited or no Connectivity, Firewalled." The computer has tried to Repair the conneciton but it says it can't do it.
I took out Counter-Strike and played Halo 2 (My xbox is modded, so most of my games are copied from the Disc to the Xbox's hard drive. Halo 2 is copied on my hard-drive and Counter-Strike is a Disc.) but when I selected System Link it said that my cord was disconnected.
Do I have to disable Windows Firewall on the Ethernet cord connection or is this something else, if so, how? I am using Windows XP.
EDIT: I forgot about this, my Laptop connects to the internet through a Wireless modem from Quest. |

No luck, sadly.
I made the Local Area Connection that my Cord is on as shared, turned off the Firewall completely, yet I cannot enter System Link menu.
Also on the Kai Engine itself, before I could see all people in one Arena/Games but now it simply says that only One person is in each Arena.
I'm now sure that this has to do with my Cord and/or my Computer. Before it could recognize it but now it just doesn't work. |

It is a regular Wi-Fi Modem/Router.
If its any help this is my Ethernet cable:
Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC
EDIT: The problems just keep poping up, I don't know what I just did but now whenever I try to open the Kai Engine, it asks me if I want use "Broadband Connection" or "MSN" and not my regular connection. I atleast want that fixed. |

It sounds strange to me that you are being asked what connection to choose when you open kai, have you scanned your PC for malware with "malware bytes anti malware or super antispyware" just to be safe ? When you enabled ICS did you enabled it for your WIFI connection not the cabled one like in this video--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un2Qvgi7bV8&feature=related
If everythings going wrong you can always do a system restore. |

I ended up uninstalling Kai and will reinstall it later today, and I did end up using ICS on my cabled connection
I also disabled ICS on my cabled connection yesterday and the different connections thing has stopped (it happened on things like Firefox, etc.)
EDIT: My wireless connection won't let me set ICS, it doesn't even show up. I can only set it with the Ethernet Cord connection. The connection that I believe is tied to my Wi-Fi is called "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card" |

Will try this now.
Sorry this has become such a roundabout issue and I appreciate all the help.
EDIT: Selecting the bridge option works! I am going to reinstall kai (Hopefully I can open it without some stupid thing asking if I want to use Broadband/MSN) and see if this will finally work.
EDIT 2: The bridge option works and Xlink has detected my xbox, but still, on the Kai engine, it does not show everyone in the arenas. For example: The arena "First Person Shooters" says it has: -1 Players and -1 Private arenas. Is this supposed to happen or is this just something being weird? |

Everything seems to be good with the program and my cable connection, although sometimes it does say the cable is unplugged when I switch game disks or something but I guess thats supposed to happen as it starts working again. Now I just need to find some games and see if it'll work.
Also, I googled around and the -1 person/-1 Arena is just a server glitch, apparently. If I run into anymore problems I'll post here if I can't find a solution.
Thank you for all your help! |
