Is your network reachable? yes
Are you using a port-forward? yes
Is your console being detected? yes
Brief description of your network setup (include model numbers): no routers, straight connection to the internet. Got the W311U Adapter on the PC which is connected to the PSP.
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? Windows firewall, no problems.
Operating System? Win 7 Pro x64
Problem description?

Shortly said, I cannot see anyone in the Guild Hall (I'm using MHFU and MHP3rd to test). Got the Guild Hall setting on AUTO as well.

I've got myself two Tenda W311U WLAN adapters which are advertised as Xlink compatible. I've tried different drivers of this adapter, thou I have not seen any difference. In the adapter configuration -> advanced, there's no "Xlink Adhoc PSP". But in the program's connection menu, when connecting to PSP, there's option "Enable PSP Mode"

Image

- I can usccessfully connect the PSP with the adapter (as shown in Windows or the adapter's program's status page).
- PSP shows correctly configurated in Xlink Kai (I can see Mac address and the icon).
- Network is reachable and in Network Card it lists W311U adapter, wheter I've put it in options or left it as autodetect.
- Tried both PSSDK and Winpcap with no difference.
- PSP AdHoc is on Channel 1 and when I connect with the program I also use Channel 1.
- I got static IP on my PC
- I've tested without any plugins enabled, no success.

So any ideas what could be blocking the connection with the other players?
I've used AdhocToUSB before and it has worked fine, but I'd like to try this adapter since I've gotten them so I wouldn't need to have that USB cable connected all the time. I'm a bit out of ideas myself...

- Do I need to put some specific IP configurations on the W311U adapter?
- Do I need to bridge the W311U and my PC network connections or share the internet connection for the W311U?
- Do I need to use Windows XP for it to work?

Not as far as i know but you can give your adapter the Ip 10.0.0.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and see if it will work.

No

No, have you tried to run/install the adapter program or even driver in win xp compatibilty mode ?
Go to your kai config and set as network adapter your W311U WLAN and pssdk instead of winpcap.
Did you connect to the right adhoc network when in the guild hall of MH and did you join the right arena ?

I changed into PSSDK and added the 10.0.0.1 IP and 255.255.255.0 subnetmask, but neither helped.

When I installed the drivers in XP Mode, they didn't work at all, couldn't get the adapter to be detected at all or find any possible locations to connect to.

Running the program in XP mode did not do any difference, the problem still remained, not seeing any people in the guild hall.

Also I did check with people that we had same adhoc channel (I used 1 and they had it too and I also used Channel 1 in the connection as well) and I mostly had the guild hall setting on AUTO, but I did try the manual as well few times, but didn't help.

I used this proiscdetect tool which checks if the adapter works with Xlink Kai and the program returns "Error: Cannot query the status for the adapter".

So this card is busted afterall even thou it was advertised to be able to work in Xlink Kai?

Here are the hardware specs--> http://www.tenda.cn/tendacn/Product/show.aspx?productid=340&type=1 and data sheet--> http://www.tenda.cn/uploadfile/downloads/uploadfile/201208/W311U.pdf i cant see anything about Xlink Kai so i guess the adapter is only able to connect your psp to the internet but isnt able to be used with Xlink Kai. It just mentions

Features such as WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), Soft AP connection with other wireless networks, WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia), and PSP, WII, and NDS connection options make the W311U a safe and flexible solution for a wireless internet connection.

http://www.tenda.cn/pdtData/update_en/User_guide/wireless/W311U_User_Guide.pdf

There in the user manual it has steps on how to connect PSP and configure Xlink Kai.

Well maybe I got my hopes too up for a 10$ WLAN receiver.

The adapter manual says that you should enable the "PAT" option which you havent done when i look at your kai config you posted previously, go to your kai config and enable it and try to play.

Tested it with a friend, went into Guild Hall 01, both of us, but couldn't see each other nor could I see other random people that were trying to see me.

Connections show fine on Xlink thou. Guess this thing doesn't work then. Thanks at least for helping me, unless you still have some ideas that could make it work

Current xlink config file (I did enable the PAT):

No I have not changed Mac address or messed with it, thou I've enabled hiding the MAC address, I could try disabling that as it's not really something that I really need to have enabled anyways.

The network adapter is selected, as it states != autodetect which I believe means "false"/"not equal to" or so as in c++ which im studying.
At least it shows it selected in the configuration menu.
