As the title suggests, is there a complete setup guide or walk-through that is a single file and area?

I've recently revived my old x-Box and found this site yesterday while looking to see if anyone has set up an online gaming network.

I was very pleased to find this but am completely confused as to what I need to do.

So far, I've worked out I need to configure something on the xBox but have no idea what or where. I've also found I need to edit some .ini files but nobody says where these files are located.

Some pages talk about ftp'ing to the xbox but don't explain what needs to transfer across.

Everyone talks about evox.ini but I still have no idea where I go to edit this file. Even The Complete Evox.ini guide doesn't say where the file is located?

I'd just like to know how I go about setting up the xBox to play games online using the Kai Engine software. Any help in releasing my frustration will be very much appreciated.

It's been a long time since I've played Halo and Unreal Tournament and I'm really looking forward to playing them again. Smile

This is the most basic guide to get you started:

In the future, please refer these questions to google, or look in the forum for stickies to aid you. More often than not, you'll find the answer in no time.

Hi Atlas,

Thanks for the reply however, the link above only explains how to connect to the now defunct xbox live and I'm actually looking for a step by step guide in how I connect to my xBox to the Kai engine online, complete with possible errors and how to correct them.

I could be blind but I've searched this forum and the wider internet (via google) and I can only find unconnected bits and bobs.

So far, I've found the following:
* The Kai Wiki provides no guide, linking to a black site with a pointless flashing gif image: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=evo7:xbox
* Google finds where the link has moved to http://corz.org/public/docs/comms/router/networking-the-xbox.pdf
* The issue with the link (I'm config 1b) is it is detail without explanation. It provides the configuration but no steps showing how to get to where you need to be.
* With xLink Kai installed, I have received 2 errors. The first was easily fixed after a search. The second persists, hence this frustrated post.
* Error I get is: Can't open registry key 'HKCR\http\shell\open\DDEExec\topic' (Error 2: the system cannot find the file specified.)
* Searching google, I found this It's the same error but relates to PSP and the guy still couldn't play after all the help: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39862&sid=5d9aea52b492410ecb28ebd0eec253de

I'm just after a link to a single step-by-step guide that I can follow easily to connect my xBox to the Kai Engine for online gaming but there appears to be none. Being a technical Writer myself, I'd be happy to write up a full guide but I need to be able to actually connect in the first place to do so.

Any help that gets me online is appreciated. Especially as I can give back to the community by providing this much needed guide for all newcomers to this software.

Ideally, (or what I've always done in the past, at least)

your network setup should look something like 1a:

Xbox---->Pc(secondarynetwork card)----->Primary connection(where your primarynetworkcardisgettinginternet)------>Router------>Internet

It's usually the easiest setup to run.

Do you have a modified xbox (special launcher, such as Evox, XBMC)? I can't really recall if you could change those settings on the stock software.
