Hi, everyone!

As stated in the title everything should be fine, except me not being able to join to the gathering hall in the MHFreedom 1 arena.

I'd be glad if you guys could help me troubleshoot this Wink

My specs: Win7 x64 8GB RAM

My xlink setup:
- Modem (ZXV10 W300)
- Ethernet Cable
- Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
- PC (running Kai 7.4.28 )
- Aetheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter
- PSVita

The modem has uPnP enabled and the Kai-port is set to 0!

Network Reachable: YES

- When Kai is running and I enter the Hall (ch. 1, Select OL GatheringH: Auto/Manual)
- my SSID list pops up : PSP-AULES00318...
- and when I connect to it, the metrics shows a PSP found.
(so the Vita part should not be the problem)

Now I am at the MHF1 Arena with a friend of mine (his setup working just fine) and we wont show up in eachothers Gathering Hall

Another player joined however my friends hall so I assume the problem's on my side.

So here are some things I am not sure about:

I am supposed to give the Aetheros a static IP, am I not?

I runned cmd: "ipconfig /all" and found
-the Ipv4 prefered address,
-subnet mask,
-standard gateway
and the DNS server to be the same as the standard gateway

so I entered the modem and found the primary and secondary DNS server to be something else, starting with 200...

I entered all this in the Adapter settings - Aetheros' IPv4 properties - is that right to do?

Next is somwhat I noticed searching in the device-manager for answers - after I gave up yersterday trying to connect:

In the "advanced" category of the Aetheros' properties I found "AdHoc 11n" to be disabled - I enabled it now - Am I onto something there?
(I will post an update to this as soon I can try to connect again)

Second thoughts:

I know that my friend using a wifi-max had to install custom drivers for it to recognize his psp, and had to enable a PSP XLink - option in the device properties

Must I too install custom drivers for the Aetheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter - even though it is recognizing my Vita on the XLink metrics?

If it's true what kind of drivers do I have to use? I've searched the forums for this Adapter but could not find a single post about it.

And a last thing out of curiosity:

While I was writing this post I noticed something I can not believe I oversaw:
I had not set the Kai-programs to start as admin and with the XP service pack 3 compatibility!!!

I could have sworn it was set, because I was sure it would not even start without it! (I mean everything else worked just fine Very Happy)

And a very last thing:
Since yesterday I noticed a Intel(R) 82576NS Gigabit Network Controller in the device-manager showing a yellow "!" symbol stating it isn't working properly?!? (My Internet is working just fine)

And a Microsoft-Adaper for Miniports virtual Wi-Fi (rough translation) - don't know where the hell they come from^^

As soon as I can retry connecting with my friend I will update this post!
But until then I'd really appreciate if you could point out errors in my setup!

If some information is missing I will add it ASAP! Just point it out please!

Unfortunately, your wireless doesn't support promiscuous mode. It is known as PSPXLinkMode in XLinkKai.
I recommend a compatible wireless adapter.

thank you for the response, karmic!
now I know what I am looking for Smile

I assume the PSPXLinkMode is the most crucial part for the connection and therefore it does not mean anything that my console was found in the metrics the whole time?

If that's the case I'll look for a supported adapter, thanks! Smile

EDIT: I set my eye on a TP-Link: TL-WN722N listed here ( http://teamxlink.co.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=evo7:compspscards )

yet it states "Confirmed working with Win XP" - does that mean Win7 AND ALSO XP or just XP?

Btw I found a Kozumi K-1500UN lying around here
(I think it has an RT2870 chipset... well that number is in the driver install-wizard... just assuming)

I tried the promiscdetect.exe but it promps me with Warning:Can not open the adapter

Hello !

Firstly i would like to say sorry for my bad english... Embarassed
and that i haven't got a PSP !

Then...

http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/quickstart.php
http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=evo7:networking

Your setup is close to this one:
http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/img/networksetup_wirelessb.png

My setup is "all wired" :
http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/img/networksetup_2nics.png

Although your setup contains wireless devices, you should first reason as it is "all wired", since your computer have two network cards : one wired, one wireless. Smile

Questions :
-Is Routing enabled in Windows 7 (type ipconfig /all in cmd) ?
--> That is essential !

Here some tutorials :
http://www.wikihow.com/Enable-IP-Routing#Another_easier_method_for_Windows_7_sub
http://www.wikihow.com/Enable-IP-Routing

http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles-tutorials/windows-2000/w2kprout.html
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/WindowsXP/AdminTips/Network/UsingXPasarouter.html

-Is Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing enabled in Windows ?
It is not essential but it may help a lot.
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/

My opinion...
-"I am supposed to give the Aetheros a static IP, am I not? "
--> No. If Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, the aetheros IP will be 192.168.0.1 AND your PSP must have to be on this network. Then allow your PSP to get an IP automatically from Atheros (from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254) NOT your internet gateway (modem).

-"and the DNS server to be the same as the standard gateway"
--> No, certainly not ! Smile

-"so I entered the modem and found the primary and secondary DNS server to be something else, starting with 200...
I entered all this in the Adapter settings - Aetheros' IPv4 properties - is that right to do? "
--> No, certainly not ! Smile

It is Windows IP routing and Xlink engine that link the networks not your internet gateway.

Then, deal with the wireless things (Adhoc, promiscuous mode, etc...) Very Happy

Kind regards.

It works on Windows 7 64-bit. I have a TL-WN721N which is the same chipset as TL-WN722N. In the case of Windows 7 64-bit, you have to install Drvier Files/Windows XP 64bit/netathuwx.inf in TL-WN721N_V1_Driver.zip. you can download zip file from TP-LINK web site.

You are right. Seems like that K-1500UN has RT2870 series chipset. In the case of Windows 7 64-bit, you have to install the RT2870 driver for Windows XP 64-bit to your OS.

thanks for the replies!

I'm off to buy me a compatible adapter Wink (most likely a wifimax or a tL-wn722n)

@Carbonyx I really think it was the lack of the promiscuos/PSPXLink - mode, as everything else was working fine Wink (reachable network, found console)

but if anything goes wrong I will apply your suggested guides ! thank you Smile

Edit: Karmic! thank you so much! it is working !
I feel silly now for not reading the stickys about the pspxlinkmode, but I set up the connection for a friend via teamviewer and all with a hassle to just play as soon as possible- it worked for him and i was too sure i set everything right for me Embarassed

This can be closed now, happy hunting!
