has anyone gotten this to work over xlink? the emulator for the android has both ad hoc and wlan support including a adhoc.apk app you run in the background if you plan to host

Sorry but this is impossible Sad xlink Kai online is always based on Xlink Kai software , you can't play without this software and there is no Xlink Kai software for android yet.
