EA for no reason made it so that if you are using the LAN mode then at least one of the PS2s has to be connected to the official servers, and those servers were shut down just over 7 years ago by EA, and the LAN mode servers were also shut down in the process.

If only someone would find a way to bring back those LAN servers from the dead.....
