hey i am not sure if i was to tell this directly to xlink kai, but here it goes. i have the og xbox and a crossover cable. unfortunately,my pc does not have a ethernet port, so i got a ethernet to hdmi adapter, but i do not think that works. anyone, please help me!

The adapter you purchased is for extending a hdmi signal over the ethernet cable. Not for accessing your network with it. A USB to ethernet adapter also won't work with Kai as you won't be able to detect game traffic with it.
You'll need a PCI ethernet adapter. If your computer doesn't have a PCI slot, you may need to get a second device to play on kai. A ~$50 raspberry pi (make sure it has an ethernet port) would be the cheapest option.
