WinPcap is the industry standard tool for accessing the connection between network layers in Windows environments. Allows applications to capture and transmit network packets bypassing the protocol stack; and has useful additional features that include packet filtering at the kernel level, a network statistics generation engine, and packet capture support. WinPcap consists of a driver, which extends the operating system to provide low level network access, and a library that is used to easily access low-level network layers.
