Hi Guys!

I have a very similar setup w/ Netgear WGT634U and WGE101. When I load the UI on the pc people can see me and my ping (16-20 ms). The network says its reachable diagnoic page and I can play fine or no worse than my friends xboxes. The problem I have is that i am told my ping is shown on XBMC thru KAI as 0ms allways and my Voice feature is intermittent. I have not Forwarded any ports and strictly use DMZ to my xbox's IP. I use Static IP on the network adapters, but DHCP on my XBOX and PC. NO software firewall W/ 2000 Pro installed. Is this post above concern my problem in relation to the WGE101 or would I not be to even play or see games if the WGE101 were giving me the the aforementioned problems.

PS Would the Netgear FWGA114 be a better router? I have access to one for FREE?

If you are not using port forwards, do you really have the Kai port set to 30000 in the XLink Kai config tool?

Hey SS! Thanks for the help in advance!

You know I do have it set to 30000 in the Kai tool only because i used to forward that port... I forgot o take it out. Will this matter considering my Xbox is DMZ'd? I will erase it. Do my symptoms sound similar to all the other WGE101 issues or is this something different or is this ok? With no bars and 0ms shown do i have full functionallity. Also I have the Latest clean install of Xbmc from the usual places.

I'll check back.

know any thing about the other router Netgear FWAG114 I think?

Kai doesn't care if an XBox is connected to the Internet or not. The XBox having DMZ has no effect on any of Kai settings, but it's also useless too.

Ok...Well the only reason i mention it being DMZd is that it 'appears' as if i'm having a problem due to not being able to see a ping rate of anything but zero while on XBMC and showing 19ms on the pc UI. The only reason i mention the DMZ is to say i'm not portforwarding any ports on my router as of right now. This was netgear's attempt to solve the 0ms issue, My mistake for calling them! Embarassed So I guess my real question is that normal to see and does that affect funcationality of xlink, is it running at 100%. Also does this 'problem' possibly relate to all the other WGE101 issues about MAC i'm reading about?

Thanks

Ok did a little research... Disabled DMZ and went back to portforwarding on 30000, 3074, and 88* (as per netgear link http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n100981.asp ), updated dash to XBMC 11-19. Everthing now works great! I can play, be seen, and I hosted from the dash my own arena w/ 12 guys cleanly! I'm not sure if its anything I did but I can say this YOU Xlink Guys are Awesome... The changes you've made are nothing short of genius! Great Work, thanks and thanks for the help .

What do you guys make of this port 88 deal on that netgear link?

Not sure I follow man. I don't think we use port 88 for anything but I may be wrong. Glad you are up and running though!

That's for XBox Live.

30000 = our RECOMMENDED port (you could use any port you like that's not in use)
3074 = systemlink / Live!
88 = kerberos authentication for XBox Live

So, remove 3074 and 88 port forwards. You only need 30000 for Kai and to make sure that 30000 is in Kai Port (leave Kai Deep Port as 0!)

dfunked Thanks!

I'll delete those other ports! See a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing Wink

Will update if i have probelems.

I am also trying for shits and giggles a more configurable firewall netgear fsv118 and access point wg302 to see if that works as well or better will advise not that anyone wants to shell out 300-400 $'s, but just as FYI.
