Is your network reachable?
yes
Are you using a port-forward?
no
Is your console being detected?
HELL NO! Evil or Very Mad Read the subject, LoL Laughing
Brief description of your network setup:
PS2 to PC is being made trough as cross-over cable from the adaptor to a Network Card inthe PC. And the PC itself is connected to the Internet via USB with a cable modem of course
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it?
No, just the WinXP one but its OFF
Operating System?
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Problem description?
Can't get the console detected. when i go to the game, in this case SOCOM 2, it says Cable Disconnected and the Local Area Connection status icon assigned to the Network Card where the cable from the PS2 comes from says the same and a big red X. you know, the one with 2 PCs one behind the other with sky-blue monitors, but black since its not detecting connection. The cable is, of course, VERY WELL HOOKED UP to the Adaptor and the Network Card. what im not getting is the connection between the Ps2 and the internet (it has to go trough the PC) because the thing doesnt detects the console and it says that the cable is disconnected when IT IS connected.

and just in case, I DO NOT HAVE A ROUTER, JUST A PC WITH NETWORK CARDS AND A CABLE MODEM

In the Kai Config. Tool, select the NIC that the PS2 is hooked up to.

Sounds like you've not set up that network properly. ie. there's a conflict between DHCP and static IP's somewhere along the line. I'm not great with the PS2's, but I would just say this to you.

1. The PS2 does not need ICS set up on the 2nd NIC
2. The PS2 NIC should be a static IP usually 192.168.0.1
3. The PS2 itself should have a static IP of 192.168.0.2 with gateway of 192.168.0.1 (the PC)

Apparently there's some sort of netwokr setup CD with the PS2s where you can do all this stuff, I wouldn't know though as I don't have one.

Well I'm not sure ow you've set up your PC's NICS, maybe you could just follow

http://packetme.tk but apply it to the PS2 instead. However, if you set up ICS, you could then easily use both Sony Online and Kai.

Update: User did not respond within 5 days. Setting to Problem Solved.
