Brief description of your network setup:[In the appartment, the internet is split up to the den, bed room and living room (where the xbox is connected) with a SMC 7004VBR. In the den I have a Dlink DI-714P+ which is connected to two computers, one of which is running Kai]
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? [XP SP2 - OFF]
Operating System? [win XP home sp2]
Problem description? [network reachable - not yet, can't see xbox]

1. You're portforwarding to the PC that runs Kai right? Not the XBox or anything? If I read it correctly, the main router is the SMC, and the den has a DI-714. In that case, you need to portforward 30000 UDP from the SMC to the IP of the DI-714. Then from the DI-714, portforward to the PC that runs Kai. This should get your network reachable.
2. Could you give the IP's of the various devices please (both routers, XBox, and the PC). You most likely have the PC and XBox on different subnets, hence why they can't discover each other. You could change the function of the DI-714 to just act as a switch instead of a router, that way all DHCP addresses will be requested from the SMC, leaving all devices on the same subnet which will let Kai detect the XBox.
Update: User did not respond within 5 days. Setting to Problem Solved. |
