If any of you are using routers but not portforwarding, do a portforward on 30000 UDP to the PC's IP and put 30000 into Kai Port. See if this makes a difference.
Also, if you didn't know with Halo 2, you can only hear people near you in the map when you talk. If you are playing a team match, pressing the white button lets you talk to everyone in your team. |

I was wondering if this was something that happens to all xlink kai users or just to some, since I have thesame problem and all the people I know who play on xlink (I asked 5 till now) also experience this problem.
Is it a xlink bug or just some network setting that's wrong? |

Was it Halo 2? Do you know how Halo 2's headset rubbish works? You need to be close to the people in the map, otherwise press the white button for everyone on your team to hear you.. |

Erm, that's the problem. I do know how it works, but the odd thing is that it doesn't work like it's supposed to.
Proximity voice and chat-to-all (white button) only work with the person who is hosting the game when playing on kai.
so: if I and the host are close to eachother we can hear eachother, but if I and another non-hosting player are near eachother, we can't hear eachother.
And if I press the white button, only the host can hear me, the other players can't (and if another non-hosting player presses the white button, also only the host can hear him, not the other players like it's supposed to). If the host presses the white button, all players can hear him.
This happens every time by the way.
Seems there is something wrong with relaying the voice streams in Halo2 on kai (other games work fine btw). |

I'd be willing to test it out thoroughly over a few games if you want. Message me on MSN sometime.. |

From what i can tell, from playing many games of halo2 online. it seems to be either a host/bandwith problem.
On some hosts it works perfect, others it dont. |

Tried it with 3 different hosts, 2 on a 512kbit upstream, one on a 1024 kbit upstream, and it didn't work in neither of them.....
Haven't come across one where it did work so I'm guessing it must be a bug or something (since all people can talk to eachother in the lobby of Halo 2) |

Maybe some other people can test too and report here in this thread if it did or did not work (and post the upstream details about the host when it worked)? I am eager to find out if it is something that is KAI related or related to the host of the game. |

I was just reading up on some other forums discussing Live, and it does seem to work okay there. The fact that it is also mentioned in the Halo 2 manual means that it is supposed to work in Live and System Link.
The fact that it doesnt't work on Kai has me thinking it might be a Kai bug. Maybe some people who also use XBconnect can check if it does or doesn't work for them?
Mods: can this be moved to the help request forum so we can work towards a solution? |

It's not exactly a Help Request so it'll stay here. Trust me, the minute you put it in Help Requests, nobody else but the mods / admins and yourself will check it.
But if you're going to test it on Kai and XBC, get the exact same people to play on both places.. |
