Is your network reachable? YES
Are you using a port-forward? NO
Is your console being detected? YES
Brief description of your network setup: wireless router, but laptop hardwired to router and xbox hardwired to router. I also have an access point that is hardwired to my router and then another xbox hardwired to that access point. (so far nothing is wireless)
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? No firewall, just the built in one with the wireless router (Microsoft MN-700 router)
Operating System? WIN 2000
Problem description?
Everything worked fine a few days ago...
- it detects my xbox (actually sometimes it shows like 3 xbox's, even though i only have two on the network and i know only one is turned on???
- i go into the halo 2 Americas folder and i see all kinds of people and arenas on the computer but i don't see any games on my xbox in the game...

Like i said, this whole thing was working last week... the only difference that i can see is that Verizon changed my IP to a different one. it used to be 70.xx.xxx.xxx now its like 142.xxx.xxx.xxx but everything else looks the same....
any help?

thanks

Hmmm. Do you know why Verizon changed your IP? Searched for anything on various forums / google?

Have you tried power-cycling your modem as well? If it worked before Verizon did this, that's very peculiar as to what they did - I know they block our emails Very Happy

yeah i tried power cycling the router and the modem... i am not sure why they changed IP's, but that still shouldn't matter though... I've been trying everything under the sun in the last day or so... i tried to just port forward anyways (maybe force it) and now the network is not reachable... i have no idea....

So when you port forwarded, did you do it for the IP of the PC running XLink Kai? And did you also change the KaiPort in the XLink Kai config tool to 30000? If not try that along with changing the KaiNIC in the XLink Kai config tool to the NIC in your PC.

i tried forcing a port forward:
- forced Ports 30000-30001 UDP to the IP of my laptop
- Then put 30000 port number in the kai config and tried that...

now the network is not reachable.... so wierd....
When i get rid of the port forward, put '0' back in the config, the network becomes reachable....
however, i did notice something....
when kai starts up, it says that it is attached to IP 127.0.0.1???? whats up with that (even with my xbox turned on before hand)

That is normal.

Can you do me a favor and tell me where we are at now? Are you running with the port forwards or not and can you repost the Kai user config for me? Thanks

Ok,
this is what i have set up now:
Port 30000-30001 UDP forwarded to IP of the laptop running Kai.
Port 30000-30001 TCP forwarded to IP of the laptop running Kai.
I have '0' in Kai port in config because if i put 30000 in there, it says network unreachable.
Ok. I start my Xbox, go to halo2 screen "available games". I then go to Kai on my laptop, start it up, the taskbar icon says it is attached to IP 127.0.0.1??? then i go into Kai and look at my diagnostics. says port 50191, says network reachable: YES. I check to see if my xbox is recognized and it is (i matched the MAC address's). I then go into:
Arena/XBox/First Person Shooter/Halo 2/Americas (i see people and arenas while in there) and wait there... I go to my xbox and sit there for a good 10 minutes and there are no games showing up.

here is my config txt...

ok,
so i got fed up and this is how i got it working again....
found an old computer in my basement, ran the cat5, set up kai, and bam... games showed up and i am playing...
there must have been something wierd set up on the laptop i was using... only downside is that now i have to run up and down the steps if i want to change games.... oh well. (wish xbmc would work, but when ever i put the game in after it tells me to, there are no games there...)
so it works but only because i switched computers....

peace

If your laptop has WinXP you might have your WinXP firewall enabled which would cause for it to not work. But we are glad you got it working again.
