Is your network reachable? Yes
Are you using a port-forward? Yes (and DMZ)
Is your console being detected? Yes
Brief description of your network setup: Cable modem to router. Computer and xbox in router
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? No. I disabled xp sp2's
Operating System? XP
Problem description? I can sometimes connect to halo 2 games. but most of the time, I get an error saying "Unable to join: You can't join this party please wait a moment and try again later."

[KaiUserConfig]
kaiUsername=*******
kaiPassword=*******
kaiPort=30000
kaiDeepPort=0
kaiAccept=ALL
kaiTimeout=NEVER
kaiNIC=2
kaiLaunch=BOTH
kaiHomebrew=OFF
kaiPAT=OFF
kaiAutoLogin=ON
kaiAllowBadNICS=OFF
kaiWireless=
kaiUI=Default

I've port fwd port 30000 to my computer's IP. And every once in a while I can see and connect to games. However, most of the time, I get an error msg saying I can't connect at this time. KAI can see my xbox and everything. I'm new at this so I might be asking a really dumb question.

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Well it's hard to say but in Halo 2 there is an option for the host to close the room so no one else joins. Does the room say "open" or "closed" when you go to join the game?

Does restarting Kai fix the problem or does it always happen?

The rooms say Open. So i didn't think that was the problem.

I'd say get rid of the DMZ unless you like your PC being a whore Smile Just put the single portforward of 30000 UDP instead of a portforward *and* DMZ. Might be causing some problems you may be unaware of.

I took off DMZ and still doesn't work. I was thinking about the two conflicting also but still... no go..

Try clearing the cache in X Y and Z partitions if the XBox is modded.

Not to threadjack, but I have the same issue. I've been able to play in a game once, but every other time I get the same error. I can see plenty of games that are open, but can't join any of them. I just cleared everything out of X,Y, and Z and still get it. Would a dump from a network sniffer (Ethereal?) be able to help anyone out in debugging the issue?

Sorry, didn't think my issue warranted a new request. I felt I could just add to the current request as it was so similar to my own issue.

Well some would think that this would be the case, but a lot of the times it is not. His problem could be that the ISP blocks UDP packets from their network, but yours might be a simple port forward. Both would give the same error in Kai, but they both have two totally different resolve paths. dfunked posted somewhere a better explanation I just cannot locate it atm.

Sorry, didn't have access to my computer and couldn't update.

I don't actually have a modded xbox so i don' think that'd be the prblm.

Could this be a similar problem to the 'Dirty Disc' message in Halo 1? There's a few people saying the same thing..

*EDIT*no reply in couple of days, assuming problem solved -tizzo
