Is your network reachable? it was...i dont know now...kai just stays at the startup screen saying "querying orbital mesh". But i am able to FTP into my xbox.
Are you using a port-forward? no
Is your console being detected? same as first answer
Brief description of your network setup (include model numbers): linksys router (model# BEFSR41 ver.2), zyxel modem (Model# prestiege 645 ADSL)
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? I use ZoneAlarm but disable it when using xlink
Operating System? windows 2000
Problem description? I've been using kai a lot for the past month. When i tried starting it up today it just sits there querying the orbital mesh. I didnt change any settings before that.
Things i've tried:
restarting PC
uninstalling and reinstalling with the file from teamxlink.co.uk
overwriting the ui.exe and engine.exe with the ones from xlink.packetme.com
uninstalling ad-aware (i had installed it before kai quit on me)

Not sure why it would stop working on you like that, but in the XLink Kai Configuration tool. Change the Network Adaptor to the NIC in your computer. Also, most Linksys routers require a force port in order to connect. Just in case, open port 30000 UDP for the IP of the PC running XLink Kai. Then add the 30000 in the XLink Kai Config tool in the Kai Port. Leave the Kai Deep Port alone. Save and close all screens and try to reconnect.

Does ZA have an 'autoupdate' feature or anything like that? Maybe try with ZA uninstalled?

Na he's got the correct versions - the lines in his config file suggest that already. You could always try with ZA uninstalled and see if the same issue is around?

did some investigating and found the problem! hooray for figuring out something for myself! Smile

anyways, I use a radio streaming program and noticed that it had also stopped working. so, i tried to think of anything that I had changed on my computer in the last couple days. The only thing I had done is installed Norton Antivirus 2005. So i looked over the new options in it and there's something called "internet worm protection". So i disabled this and tried again. now both kai and my radio stream program are both working perfectly.

I dont know if this has been discussed here before, but it should definately be brought up if it hasnt. You guys at kai might wanna look into it and give a better diagnosis if you can duplicate the problem on one of your systems.

Also, for people that have the same problem - you have to open norton 2005 and click on "options". Find "internet worm protection" on the left hand column and click it. Now uncheck the box that says "enable internet worm protection" (From what i can tell, you have to completely disable it, as none of the configuration settings would allow me to sign on to kai until i disabled it completely.)

Anyways, thanks for the help guys!
Glad i fixed it, i was about to go through kai withdraws. Very Happy

Yeah it's been known, but you never told us about NAV so we would have never been able to help you out.

Oh and Norton is a definite PoS. No more AV products for me again.
