I ordered a PSP off the internet and as soon as I went to actually paywith my credit card it stated that the PSP's stock was being checked toMake sure no more defects were found...

im sorry but PSP is just no longer on my mind, i thought soby would change and actually release a High Quality product but now you find that its going to repeat its mistake forever,...

here are the list of Current Defects found...
Found UMD discs drives not funtioning
Not turning on
Analog's falling off
D-Pads sticking
Dust under screen
Bubbles ontop of screen
UMD discs flying out when too much Pressure is applied

Sorry, my DS (Nov 22nd) is better off for me... ^.^

They had to cut costs somewhere to get the expensive screen and CPU into it without losing too much money per unit. It's either higher prices(= no sales), some quality inconsistencies(PSP), or lower cost parts(DS route). That's just economics. Each route has it's positives and negatives, and not everyone will agree upon which is superior. I predict this thread will be locked(you had to add that DS comment, gives a perfect excuse to lock this...Not to mention the BOLD TITLE!1!), but It is an issue that should be discussed in some form.

I smell WP troll - they're full on anti-PSP over there..

So yeah, a lock is in order..

I'd just like to say though, that *any* LCD project suffers dead pixels in manufacturing, and the stuff the guy mentions is about par for the course for a totally new device like the PSP.

I've not got a PSP (yet), but I have a DS, and while it may be "well built", in my opinion it's underpowered and underdesigned (whoever decided the positioning of the bottom/touch screen for use with the thumb thing is a *baboon*).

Again, it's only my opinion, but if Sony keeps the price down, games good and supply right, Nintendo is going to lose it's grip on the handheld market.
