I've gotten this game through that ATI coupon (buy an ATI graphic card and you get the game for free through Steam), and I must say I like it a lot. A lot of people have been flaming Valve and Steam on their forums, but I must say I'm pretty happy with it. Maybe that's just because I didn't get into the whole hype thing and stuff but IMO it's way better then FarCry.

Anybody else playing this? And if yes, how far are you guys, I'm still somewhere in the canals..

Yeah I guess if you want to play it real smooth and with really great gfx (which you should) it's pretty demanding of your pc..

This game is the shit imo, I've not been near the XBox other than to watch Futurama since it was released Very Happy

My PC (AMD Athlon64 3400, 512 DDR400 etc) can handle it np, but my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 5700 or something) could do with an upgrade, but HL2 still looks great on it.

Back to HL2 Very Happy

edit: eh, also I think HL2 will suck on XBox... Just isn't that sort of game, in the same way that Halo sucks on PC.. It just dosent work (imo)

Don't know if I'll be playing this on xbox. Since my pc gets a lot better graphics than my xbox ever will ( amd 64 3000+,1024ram,Raptor system disk and my crappy gfx,,,Gf6800GT 256 MB tuned to a gf6800 ultra Wink

) and the gameplay is a hell of a lot smoother with a keyboard + mouse.

Yeah it was a coupon, but not online, just a regular one.. But it's was a temporay offer I think.. I bought mine a year ago almost. So if it doesn't say so on the box, I am afraid you don't have it..

BTW I just finished it and it's awesome!

console games will never be as good as pc games. I woulnt expect this game comming out for xbox, and it barley runs on my ati 256mg card, so how is is going to run on an xbox. If they lower the graphics, then i might as well keep playing halo..

feb 3? wow that fast. I won't be getting it for xbox though, I'd rather have it for my PC.

Wasn't it confirmed for XBox like back when it was first confirmed for PC? I have an article in an XBox mag here that says so... Can't find it atm, but I think it's either XBox World or XBox Gamer.. Has 2 screens too (though I bet they're PC version) Confused

edit* Yeah it's XBox World. There's also a DVD w/ the E3 Tech Demo on there. It's from April 03 I think (got the date from a friend so don't shout at me if it's wrong Laughing

)

Anyway, imo it's definitely the type of game that wouldn't work on a console.. Graphics aside, I just can't see it working, there's so much going on that a controller just isn't fast enough, even if you put sensetivity on high...

They'd have to dumb it down a fair bit... Plus I'll bet they don't bundle CS with the XBox version, I haven't played HL2 that much since I finished it for the 2nd time through - but I play CS loads Smile

Bit late, but this game fucking rocks - if you don't like me swearing, I'll say this again, THIS GAME IS FUCKING INSANE Very Happy

The pistol is one of the best pistols i've ever used in a game - the physics are UNBELIEVABLY GOOD - the audio and voice conversations are REALISTIC - the music DRIVES YOU.

It's everything that Halo 2 ISN'T.

HL2 > H2.

Well....from what ive played the game is good...hella good gfx...my gfx look just like yours tizzo and im running mine of my intel extreme Laughing

but anyway, im getting a new gfx card for my bday so i can get some online action in w/o it laggin it up
O yea...my single player works fine...i made it to the part where you get your crowbar...then i quit to play some halo and forgot to save it..haha

I still havent seen this gem in motion - sadly I own a celeron 333mhz, so I can barely run the 8 year old original, nevermind the trailers for HL2.

Since XBMC doesnt like Bink! movies, does anybody know where to find some mpeg or avi format trailers? I've only seen pics, but no movies.

And being a major player in the seedy underground of the Xbox's community, dfunked, havent you got any insider info about the release of HL2 for the console?
